    Good evening, gents!
I ended up failing the no variety november. Shaving with the Tech was fine, but it just got too boring.

So i grabbed my Yaqi, Rocket HD500 and the cheapest blades i could find. All worked very well together, and i got a great shave. No nicks, cuts or any of that stuff. Just a very close, comfortable shave.

    Have a great day!

Thank you, Jeff. This is my first Single Ring, and I love using it. I'm on the lookout for a backup.

So far, I've tried Astra SP and Voskhod blades in it. Both blades are fine, but the Voskhod is smoother. The Teflon blade coating edges out Platinum by a slight margin, particularly on the first shave, for smoothness in all my razors. I was a Feather only guy for the longest time. Since @NCoxSTL introduced me to fine Russian steel, I now maintain strategic stock piles of both Japanese and Russian blades.

BTW, it has been fun following along on your shaving journey. You've acquired some mighty fine gear, and I always enjoy seeing your posts.

A good 3 pass shave again. The XTG pass does seem to be the critical pass for me. It makes the ATG pass just a cleanup really.

The horse hair brush is pretty much past the stinky phase. It's a very soft brush. It's worth keeping but I doubt I will buy more.

I counted my soaps and samples. I have just enough left to do no repeat soaps. It's been fun switching things up. I certainly have my favorite razors which tend to be on the more aggressive side. Getting to the bottom of the barrel now. Next week I will be using my BlueTip, Aristocrat, GoodWill, Schick, and various SE razors. Should be fun.

Thanks, Charlie! I spend a lot of time visiting antique malls and have turned up some spectacular finds, many for pennies on the dollar. I found several 1905 Single Rings that were black with tarnish. Got them very cheaply! Cleaned them up and resold them in our local wet-shaving group for a very healthy profit. I haunt the sticks out around Amish country here in Pa and keep turning up some very nice razors. I was actually getting bored in retirement, and this hobby has really energized things for me.

    Enjoy your shaves,

    Jeff

That is a great haul for an estate sale, Jeff! I would have guessed that was a new lather bowl from a prominent artisan.

That is very cool, Jeff. It sounds like you're having so much fun that it may not be legal. :)

Please keep me in mind if you come upon another Single Ring or three :) in good condition. I subscribe to @Terry's theory of having a backup for my backup. My Dad was born in 1915, and I'm especially interested to find a razor made in that year.

Simichrome Polish works well for removing tarnish, and I have a tube on standby.
