The fact is we are talking Good versus Evil. Good always wins. They find a way, and they win.

I am sorry I don't have time to catch up, or chat. I hope you all had a good day. My son kept me busy, he is really not feeling well. Tonight I worked on some pens for a couple good friends, and I need to get to bed.

Side notes: Acrylic is fun. Carbide lathe chisels rule. Sick kids make me sad. Hope to catch up with you all tomorrow!

No we're not. We're talking whether or not the Death Star can blow up the Enterprise, which it clearly can. It blew up Alderan for crying out loud, a whole freakin' planet! It's not saying that the Trekkies and Rebel Alliance can't join forces to defeat the Empire, just that they'll do it without the Enterprise....

    wow....I can't believe I just did that.... :happy102 :happy102 :happy102 :happy102 :happy102

That's the problem with being a musician. You don't have to hear it to hear it. Happens to me all the time... :sick007

    See what I mean? :happy102

That was very cool, but it should have been a bigger explosion - matter/antimatter and all that...

Hmmm... have to think this one through.

Might be an illogical syllogism, but I still like the way you think. Of course, I like Lewis Carol too...

I offer this rebuttal - do note it dates itself with the prequel it starts with, but still worth reading:

Awww.....I'm very sorry to hear that, Rodd. Hope the little guy feels better real soon.

Uhhh......Alderan was a planet; stationary in it's orbital path. What exactly was it gonna do? The Enterprise is a ship capable of evasive maneuvers.

Star Fleet doesn't need the Rebel Alliance to kick the Death Star's booty.

    Still good vs. evil. :p

Good evening and good night Rodd.

The Death Star could blow up the Enterprise, but there are issues and caveats. The Death Star needed a shield generator extended from an external source. Without it, there were X-Wings and Y-Wings flying in the trenches getting multiple opportunities. Without the shielding, the Enterprise could beam a quantum torpedo into the core from a safe distance and it's bye bye Death Star. With the shielding up, the odds change a bit. The transporter is a non-issue. A direct assault isn't as effective. The Death Star has the luxury of being surrounded by Star Destroyers and Super Star Destroyers as well as complements of various TIE derivatives. If the Empire could limit the movement of the Enterprise, they could get a solid shot in and blow it the hell up. I'm guessing that even with shields up, that planet destroying laser would still be incredibly effective.

okay, we're still comparing apples to carburetors - the death star wasn't explicitly designed for blasting starships, though it was quite effective in return of the jedi.

Ahh, but you aren't counting human ingenuity. Which no one on the Death Star has cause they aren't human.

    woo hoo! title change!

you know, the really funny part is, with all this star wars/star trek discussion (sorry you missed it Micah, you'd be having a blast!), I cross over to "hone star" title, and the first thing this Lone Star state resident thinks of is Lone Star from Spaceballs :happy097:happy097:happy097
