I used to ride-share with a guy who had a Datsun p/u. I'm not sure how much snow you see in Kentucksylvania, but it was most 'enlightening' heading home in some fresh frozen rain.

    Shoulda taken the flames though.

Those Red Rings are cool looking razors for sure, Tom.
I bet you’re looking forward to the 13 more shaves being done, Joe! I admire your determination and resolve for sure.
Golds to hear the Ramblin Man is a winner. I have it in a Shampoo Bar, but haven’t used it yet.
    Awesome pic and combo, Doug!
What a wonderful photo, Clint. A very useful opinion on the Bay Rum as well.
    Congrats, Jim!

SOTD 11252019.gif Menthol Monday felt good this evening. Doing the Proraso package gave that eucalyptus & mint from start to finish. The Van Der Hagen boar is a brush many Newb's have tried and moved on from. They do tend to shed and have plain Jane handles. No bristles lost tonight & I like the shape. Remembering the advice given me about this Cooper, I tightened it down, then backed off 1/4 or a third turn. Not something I'd do with a Gillette Adjustable, but it does work on the '46-'47 Aristocrat. The center peg/latching mechanism of the Monobilt might be just too big to pull it down tight in a modern, non-proprietary blade. Took three full, slow, careful passes, and gingerly cleaned up on the regular special issue areas like lower neck and under the chin. I was successful in not drawing any blood or knocking any scabs loose. Even avoided irritation while getting a close shave. Good bit of sting from the alcohol based splash just the way I like it. And I bought a Mazda.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Thank you, Jason! Yes, I am looking to complete the next 13 shaves to finish this challenge. It is an important step in my straight razor journey because it will help me assess my stropping and my honing with lapping films. So far, I have not refreshed this razor and am not planning to do so for the entire challenge.

Great progress on the same stuff rule. Seems like you started yesterday.

You have to really love it when you get your routine down on open edge shaves to maximize efficiency.

When I started, I committed to 1 hr/day for 100 days. Used in the beginning. Now I can grab a shavette and move through a shave almost as swiftly as a safety......if I have to.

I love to spend the time stropping, hot towel, pre-shave.....and so on.... just because, just for me.

    Shave on!

Thank you, Bill! Well, it does get easier because I have completed 242 open blade shaves that are subdivided into 127 straight and 115 shavette shaves. I mentioned that I started with my Dovo shavette in Oct '18 and moved on to straights with just 16 shavettes shaves under my belt. The Dovo really helped me to shave with a light touch and made the transition to straights very easy for me. I had close to 50 open blade shaves at the time I arrived on this forum last December. Time sure does fly. Anyway, when I shave on a day off or on the weekend, I like to take my time as well. However, I am fortunate that it takes me less than a half hour to actually shave.

Monday: A big Silverloaf 8/8 with a 3/4 grind, the edge is sharp but not as smooth as I like so she will get touched up on the stones. Some vintage Antaeus so keep me smelling through out the day.

Tuesday: Takehana Feon 172, my first JWest. The grind on this razor is amazingly thin and the bevel is so thin I need magnification to see it. Fresh of a touch up she is smooth and very sharp.

    Good morning!
DSC_0773.JPG I was in a hurry, so i decided to go with the Proraso red in a can. Great scent and it performs well for a canned foam. Comfortable shave without any nicks or weepers.

    Have a great day!
