THANKSGIVING SHAVE Safari Perfumed by: Annie Buzantian Bath Soap - Pre de Provence Sandalwood (quad-milled) Razor - Antique Gillette ABC "Empire" Razor circa 1908-1912 (fully restored/re-plated in rhodium by Razor Emporium) Blade - *6th Shave Shave Brush - Ralph Lauren Safari Collection fitted with Synthetic Knot manufactured by Frank Shaving (replaced by jimjo1031) Pre-shave Oil - Lather & Wood "unscented" Shave Soap - Geo F. Trumpers Sandalwood Cream (Dried for months into a hard soap.) Shave Mug - Ralph Lauren Safari Collection Post Shave Balm - Geo F. Trumpers Sandalwood Skin Food Deodorant - Geo F. Trumpers Sandalwood Fragrance - Ralph Lauren Safari EDT ***EDIT - The shave came out really good but on this 6th shave the first sign of light tugging began. I opted to stay with the blade and work through the shave and managed to get it done with a good outcome. 2 passes + clean up and a nice smoothness to my skin. Even this wonderful Spoiler blade can only get through 5 solid shaves max (and that's one more than any of the others), but at least those shaves are good shaves. This razor is notoriously my most difficult shaver. If I can avoid irritation and nicks I consider myself lucky and the old-school Spoiler blade has been the best thus far in this razor. I am tired of trying different blades in this razor and just might opt to buy the pricey Spoiler old-new stock to use in it. They are very expensive aftermarket re-sell blades now.
Yeah, if this were made today I would snap one of these colorful razors up. I did a search and these aren't easy to find in perfect condition.

NOVember 2019 November 27 Razor -Feather DX Artist Club Blade - Soap - Stirling Sheep Brush - Stirling Pro-Type Synthetic Post - Alum No-repeat continues with the Feather DX AC razor, loaded with a Kai Captain blade. This is the Kai blade that matches up with the Feather Pro. I like the Kai blades, but prefer the Feathers in the AC razors. It's just a matter of taste. The Feathers seem a tad sharper, though the difference isn't enough to save your life if you make a serious mistake with a Kai blade. Know what I mean? I chose the Stirling Sheep for a magnificent lather whipped up by the Stirling brush. The DX is one fine shaving tool. Perfectly balanced, smooth, just a great feel to it. It's a pain stick so you can't treat it with anything less than respect, but it will deliver a top shelf shave once its mastered. The Kai blade worked perfectly and three passes later the baby is on board after just a bit of touch up on my neck. I do believe this has become my favorite pain stick. The SS is also excellent, but I prefer the head style on this one over the "lipped" SS. We have three more days of shaves in NOVember then it's on to Decadent December!!! I have five razors, five soaps and five brushes set to go in December. In my opinion, the best of the best in my collection on razors and soaps, and nothing but badgers in the brush category. Yes, you read that right. No synthetics for me in December. No boars either. All badger (well ok, so the hybrid makes it in) to celebrate living the high life. Hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving in the U.S. and a great Thursday no matter where you are!
