I managed to sleep in late and take a leisurely walk with Mocha this morning. Another excellent drama free shave before starting a day of doing absolutely nothing. The really enjoy the performance and scent of Colonia. Three passes and touch ups ended in a perfect drama free BBS shave. I hope everyone has a great Friday.

#1 - Feather DX w/Feather Pro Super. I do not believe that I have ever shaved with a more capable tool. My other shavettes get close along with my best straight. The 2 things I'd like more would be better balance and less slippery scales. Effortless and smooth cutting action.
#2 - Focus R28 Slim Al w/GSB. This tool requires a bit steeper angle than I usually use, but that makes the stretching action of the design come in play. I love the balance and have adapted to the very low weight. Effortless and smooth cutting action. Almost.... as good as the Super DX combo.
#3 - Focus R21 Evolution w/half Feather DE. Great open edge shave. Better than most of my straights, but like most gear with a Feather on the first shave... toothy.
Be interesting to see how things go further on.

Supply Injector - Blade War

I went 6 good shaves with a Schick Proline. I'm sure it would go much further for an Excalibur participant, not me though.

#1 - Supply Personna. I whined about these things on my first tries, so to be objective I gave them another shot after reading a few complaints about the first blade from the dispenser. Nope, not one bit better. I changed out after a few strokes. I took special notice that I was not 'edge dragging' while loading. Maybe these would work for me with a 1 dot or a 3 dot plate, but I don't have them. Or maybe I got some of a bad batch. Prolly done with these.

#2 - Vintage Schick Injector. These blades came in the case with my I1a that I got for about $6. It was very lightly used but not a NOS specimen. I believe the blades are original since they have round holes rather than the oblong. Assuming vintage, they out age me. They certainly outshave the Personna, but not as good as a modern Chinese Schick, and certainly not a Proline. Finished the 1st pass and did a 2nd. The shave was still short of the mark. I have no nostalgic attachment here, so out it came. I saved it to try in the I1 someday.

#3 - Brand new Schick Proline. The blade brought the shave up to snuff. I must say, that the Supply with the 2 dot plate and Proline could beat out the Focus Dynamic R48 1/2 DE pivoting head razor for the coveted title of the 'Wedding Razor'

Disclaimer...... Tests such as these are my opinions only, for me. They do not conform to the 30DC philosophy and program here at Shave School where blade and equipment jumping is highly discouraged. One could easily learn to use any of the gear mentioned for the successful attainment of great shaving skills.

I think I will be passing this dry along in my upcoming anniversary PIF(to make room for some Black Friday purchased) Great performance though and would you believe that after 10 shaves the Feather is able to deliver a DFS shave? I hope you all have a great day and relaxing weekend!

Nice shave and report, Andrew! Well, it is great that your adding a 3rd baseman to your infield. I have 3 brothers and no sisters. Needless to say that it wasn't a quiet house. Figuratively, I was the 3rd baseman in my family.

Thanks, Joe! The razor performed way better than i expected. I'll have to use it a few times to figure out a way to shave around or carefully over the mole.

For Friday I picked one of my favorite razors, a 7/8 full hollow Dorko. The grind is impeccable and she always take an exceptional edge. The scent is almost gone from this Fine soap but the performance is outstanding. A very nice shave to wrap up the work week.

Awesome shot, Keith. I think I've been really lucky- both of my Fine soaps have retained their scent (L'Orange Noir, Platinum), but many are like you and have reported the scent has disappeared with time.

I know you can all read the name of that blade, right? Direct from Samah Razor Blades Industries in the resort areas of Bangladesh - I present the Balaka. It is made by the same company that makes the Sharp Durablade, which easily rates as one of the 10 worst blades I've ever had in a razor. So, what's the worst that could happen?

You'll also notice that I paired this blade with a slightly aggressive razor, the 1918 Gillette OT. With the finest blade this razor can exact revenge. Again, what's the worst that can happen?

You'll notice I went all Stirling for the software to give this setup a chance. Orange chill for the nice menthol and orange combo along with the Finest Badger brush. Excellent, even luxurious lather and more than I needed. Surely the question, what's the worst that could happen - couldn't really be a problem, right?

Well, I'm not bleeding. That's the good news. The Balaka is a carbon steel blade, though it wouldn't have mattered as it is about as sharp as my mind at 3 a.m. To say this thing dragged and pulled would be an understatement worthy of an award. The first pass especially was horrid. I nearly tossed in the towel. But, I'm no quitter and I have had worse shaves (which is really scary) so I kept on. By the end of the second pass I was either getting enough reduction to make it seem sort of ok, or else my face was just getting used to the pain. So, I threw in the third pass and called it good. I can say I got a DFS result, not horrible actually but my word it was not the easiest thing to do. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! And an early gift to you with that shave! Have a great Friday tomorrow and try not to spend too much money on shopping here in the states!

Good morning!

Terrific shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS. Silent alum.

I adore the scent and performance of the Hemingway Accoutrements cream but I do seem to struggle getting the consistency and quantity of lather I'm looking for. I just don't start with enough. I have very little experience with shave creams.

First use of a CVS blade, nice! Very smooth.

Awesome picture as always, Jim. Creams are different beasts. They can vary a great deal, obviously. Some are basically soaps, and others are much different. If you're getting good results, 'tis all fine in the end!
