Wow, a bit early for me but that's ok. Very slow day today on the streets so I just called it early and came on home to chill out. With the cold rain we're having, chilling out is pretty easy to do. Next to last shave of NOVember and I chose Matthew, the "haunted razor" for the honors tonight. A Gillette New SC Deluxe that has bee replated, this is one of my favorite razors. I've been saving him toward the end of the month. I paired him with the Rapira Chrome blade. Similar to the other Super Stainless from Rapira, this is a smooth and sharp blade and does a nice job. I chose Stirling Island Man and the meet up brush with SynBad knot for a fantastic lather. Three passes to a BBS and I'm a very happy camper!

One more day to go!! Decadent December starts Sunday. It's been a great month here again. Thanks to everyone for all you do around here and enjoy your weekend!

Well, this is my last shave for this month. I wanted to make it a great one! Face-lathered the Stirling Sandalwood soap to a nice shiny, luxurious and even texture. Unfortunately, the brush shed another hair. I think that I add to much pressure on this brush so that it loses a bristle every now and then. I am a little dismayed because I like the brush and it lathers very well. On a 34 hour stubble, I got an IBSS++ on 2 passes and without any touchups. I didn't get any irritation or any wounds. Finished the shave in my usual manner. Under my old grading system, I would give it a 98. I am 2/3 complete with this challenge. I only have 10 shaves left to complete this 30 consecutive straight razor shaves using the same straight. Have a great evening, guys! View attachment 211338 View attachment 211338

I managed to sleep in late and take a leisurely walk with Mocha this morning. Another excellent drama free shave before starting a day of doing absolutely nothing. The really enjoy the performance and scent of Colonia. Three passes and touch ups ended in a perfect drama free BBS shave. I hope everyone has a great Friday.

The plating is nice and crappy, completely missing from a few spots on the top cap. But it actually shaves very well! A bit more aggressive than what i'm used to, but i managed to get a very smooth and irritation free shave. Nicked the mole though, but i'll find a way to get around it with this razor.

Have not had time to properly transcribe my recent showdowns, but here are the results.

Replaceable blade straights. Round 1, new blades.

#1 - Feather DX w/Feather Pro Super. I do not believe that I have ever shaved with a more capable tool. My other shavettes get close along with my best straight. The 2 things I'd like more would be better balance and less slippery scales. Effortless and smooth cutting action.
#2 - Focus R28 Slim Al w/GSB. This tool requires a bit steeper angle than I usually use, but that makes the stretching action of the design come in play. I love the balance and have adapted to the very low weight. Effortless and smooth cutting action. Almost.... as good as the Super DX combo.
#3 - Focus R21 Evolution w/half Feather DE. Great open edge shave. Better than most of my straights, but like most gear with a Feather on the first shave... toothy.
Be interesting to see how things go further on.

Supply Injector - Blade War

I went 6 good shaves with a Schick Proline. I'm sure it would go much further for an Excalibur participant, not me though.

#1 - Supply Personna. I whined about these things on my first tries, so to be objective I gave them another shot after reading a few complaints about the first blade from the dispenser. Nope, not one bit better. I changed out after a few strokes. I took special notice that I was not 'edge dragging' while loading. Maybe these would work for me with a 1 dot or a 3 dot plate, but I don't have them. Or maybe I got some of a bad batch. Prolly done with these.

#2 - Vintage Schick Injector. These blades came in the case with my I1a that I got for about $6. It was very lightly used but not a NOS specimen. I believe the blades are original since they have round holes rather than the oblong. Assuming vintage, they out age me. They certainly outshave the Personna, but not as good as a modern Chinese Schick, and certainly not a Proline. Finished the 1st pass and did a 2nd. The shave was still short of the mark. I have no nostalgic attachment here, so out it came. I saved it to try in the I1 someday.

#3 - Brand new Schick Proline. The blade brought the shave up to snuff. I must say, that the Supply with the 2 dot plate and Proline could beat out the Focus Dynamic R48 1/2 DE pivoting head razor for the coveted title of the 'Wedding Razor'

Disclaimer...... Tests such as these are my opinions only, for me. They do not conform to the 30DC philosophy and program here at Shave School where blade and equipment jumping is highly discouraged. One could easily learn to use any of the gear mentioned for the successful attainment of great shaving skills.

First if I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. Or second Thanksgiving @Douglas Carey . We had a lot of family time and good food. We also found out this week that we are going to be having another boy. I guess I'll have to keep my eyes open for a new razor next year that will be his birth year razor. Had a nice shave this morning with the Van Yulay Smoking Hot Pineapple. Unfortunately the scent, though nice, is overpowered by the smoky element. I think I will be passing this dry along in my upcoming anniversary PIF(to make room for some Black Friday purchased) Great performance though and would you believe that after 10 shaves the Feather is able to deliver a DFS shave? I hope you all have a great day and relaxing weekend!

Been a couple of days since my last shave so I chose the Mellon Shave King style double open comb on a solid, heavy, long SS handle. The Yaqi top end came from John @John Ruschmeyer, I think the handle from The Box. Blades for tonight's shave, Suneko, supplied by Jeff @jgreenepa and what a pleasure! The razor is loud with great blade exposure, efficient yet doesn't bite, and the blades supplied smooth comfort and above average reduction. A post shave swipe with alum was totally silent, and the honeyed vanilla, tobacco, oud, and bourbon lotion from The Box is becoming a favorite.
