Our younger daughter's game - just watching/cheering. They did great, unfortunately the other team is all at the younger end of the age range, and our girls are at the older end. They just clobbered them - so much in fact that our coach held back the halfbacks to midfield. Our little one scored one of the goals! :D :D Our older daughter's game is in about 45 minutes....

    Congratulations!

So... you think a antique store W&B has a chance to be shave ready with just a balsa strop with Cromium Oxide paste (if I can find any...)

Anything's possible, but in all honesty, I doubt it. Plus, I'd rather send it off to a "pro" for the initial setting of the bevel, etc... and not having used straights before, this way you'll know it's a technique issue and not a not-sharpened-enough type issue. It took at least a solid month of using the straight 2-4 times a week to get a good technique down....

I would recommend Joed or gssixguns at SRP - actually, I'd personally go with Joed first - Glen didn't get mine sharp enough the first time....Joed doesn't necessarily do it "full time" like Glen, but he got my W&B Special Razor great!

I kind of figured. I bet I have less than a 10% chance of that working out... so I won't even try. I just want to get started on this process.. Although I may go ahead and pick up that W&B Special they had to send off in the future and to give me something to play with in the mean time.

Yeah, it was tough having the razors in possession before I could send them out to get honed....

Well its not in my possession yet. It was at the bottom of a dusty cigar box deep in the back of the bottom shelf in a dimly lit cabinet. I would assume it has been there for a long time and will be there when I get around to buying it.

I had just finished with a late morning shave and had gotten dressed when there was a knock at my door. The straight I picked up from JimR has arrived. Excellent, it is here! :D Wait... I just shaved... :happy102

Oh well... first straight shave will be tomorrow it appears!

afternoon folks. the family's on a pseudo-vacation. we're visiting my parents and I'm doing the services at their church tomorrow.

So I asked my parents about lunch after I finished unloading our van, and my dad presents me with grilled bratwurst and a Guiness. I love my parents. :D

Ya know... my parents are both ministers and you are so much more relaxed about that then they are. Actually... I think my dad would be OK with a beer; my mother gets on a soap box and the thought of beer.

Yeah.. I know it has been quiet on here. Matt was off at soccer games. Dom is gone for the weekend. Tracy, Fuzzy and Pam are AWOL. I was off running errands and now am going to start work on my reflection papers and action plan. Don't know where Bong, Micah, Bill, Ray, and Jim are but I am sure with the long weekend are out doing something with their families...

She is wanting to have 15 posts... what happens at 15 posts? I shot through the first 50 so fast I didn't realize that 15 was an important mile marker for something...

So how are you doing today, any better?

    Newbie Give-Away.

Doing alright. Yesterday was real stressful, and seems to have set me back a bit.

    Lots of water is helping.

Don't think I've drank this much water in my 31 years.

I take it your parents aren't on the Catholic end of things. I'm what's called Anglo-Catholic, or an approach to Anglicanism that emphasises our Catholic heritage. We view our Sacraments as equally valid as the Roman Catholic Church's.

Alcohol's a regular part of our worship service. We have wine and beer at church functions from time to time. We teach moderation and proper consumption, but we don't have a problem with alcohol itself. As is true with many things, it's not the tool it's how it's used.

    Yay! Pam!

Yes, that is certainly true of a lot of things.

And yes, they are Methodists. Nothing in the church against alcohol per se, however, it is not part of any church function, and we have grape juice with communion.
