Good morning Truckman. Good morning everyone else awake. Happy Memorial Day to all! I wish mail were running today. I've got some good things coming my way that I am anxious to try. I suppose at least one more day won't hurt. Anticipation makes the heart grow fonder, or some such nonsense.

Hey Corey...Good morning to you too! Did you work last night? How bad was it? I'm hoping it's easy today, although I'm expecting (hoping for?) a deck fire 2° to grilling & drinking... :D

Yeah, I wish the mail ran regardless...I hate that feeling when something's coming and it didn't show on Saturday.... :(

I did work last night. It was supposed to be a quick 4 hour shift to cover the typical rush of patients that show up in the ER after 6pm, but due to a schedule eff up, only one person was scheduled after 11. A coworker and I stayed a few extra hours to knock down the huge rush. It wasn't too horrible. It was busy as hell, but it started to die down about 1am. I'll take the extra few hours. I've got a big Vegas trip coming up in July, so this is just extra money I can piss away in gambling or food. :D

Grilling and drinking sounds amazing right now. I can't remember the last time I had a burger off the grill. I think it's more than time to fire up some charcoal and cook up some big fat burgers. I think a trip to to the store is in order this morning.

Sorry to hear about the scheduling mess ups, but hey... like you said, more money for your vacation.

Morning everyone, we all slept in here. It was windy overnight and idiots instead of walking 100 yards to the next (and empty) dumpster or opening the lid to the back half of the dumpster threw bags upon bags of trash on top of the lid to the front half of the dumpster.:angry037 It was a windy night and now there is trash scattered everywhere in the grassy areas. Idiots! :angry032

Yup waiting for the deliveries when the mail is closed is bad. However, I think in this case, non-delivery makes the *ad grow stronger.

We have those lazy types here as well. There are huge trash compactor type things here all over the apartment complex that makes it easy to throw away garbage. On top of that, the complex actually has valet trash pick up as part of the rent, so all you have to do is put a bag or two outside the door every other day and they pick it up and dispose of it for you, and yet STILL these people manage to get trash all over the place. I don't understand people some times.

And I'd like to think I've got a pretty decent handle on my *AD's now. I've bought three razors in the last month. Two were on my list that I really wanted to pick up (birth year razor and a Shave King *woohoo huge thanks Bill!*), and a very clean Gillette Old Type for a killer price. I PIF'd away 3 razors in the same period, as well as a good selection of blades to various people. I'm in balance. I did splurge a little on some Goderj Menthol Mist and Lime Fresh, but at $2 a tube, I think my bank account will manage. I think I've only got two razors left on my "want" list, and if I stumble across them, I stumble across them. If not, I think I'll do just fine. :)

Ah I didn't know the shave king had passed on to another .... or did he find another one.. hmmmm..

So what else is on your want list?

He found me an excellent link on eBay. It was listed as a lot of 2 Vintage Gillette Safety Razors, with the picture prominently featuring a Gillette NEW with the Shave King off to the side. I honestly don't know how he found that listing. Never in a million years would I have found it. There was no mention of Shave King in the listing, and the pic of the razor itself was just enough to identify it if you happened to look at the ad closely. I'm still not quite believing it, and will be anxious as hell until it shows up.

Left on my list: A Muehle and an open comb Merkur, perhaps a 1904. I can get either at any time, there just hasn't been a huge rush to do so.

You know, I really don't have much interest in trying a Merkur...for whatever reason.... I have tried a vintage Merkur Slant with mediocre results. However, I think it was that the razor was too light for me.... I just don't do well with light razors at all, even if I do concentrate and pay special attention.... maybe someday I'll try a barberpole or HD slant, but I'd really like to take one of those open comb slants for a drive some day! :D

I was never that impressed with the Merkur HD and recently sold it. I liked the slant better, but its low on rotation. With using a straight it may go bye bye as well.

On the other hand the vintage Merkur open comb slant is one of my favorite razors. I just need to go over the threads on the post with a 10-32 die in order to use a different handle - its threads are a bit messed up.

I love my Merkurs. I started out really digging the vintage Gillettes and all that fun stuff not too long ago (though it feels like years already), and I tend to fall back more and more on the Merkurs for daily duty. I like the low profile heads and the feel of the razors. I get excellent shaves out of all of them. I still use the vintage stuff in my rotation, and I absolutely love love love my collection of Techs, but it's not as often as the newer stuff.

Hmm...interesting. I love my Fat Handled Tech, along with my Big Fellow Old Type and my bar handled NEW. Of course, I can't forget my Fat Boy, Slim, and Super Adjustable. But, like Justin mentioned, now that I'm using a straight most of the time, my DEs have seen much less use....but I'm always willing to try something new.... :D Thanks for the PM! :happy088

    Good morning HYDers!
Haven't tried out any Merkur razors yet. I have a Muhle R89 that is a good razor.

    Morning guys.

So... why is it that air conditioners know when it's going to be a balmy holiday weekend?
I noticed Saturday night/Sunday morning that it was suddenly getting a little stuffy in the apartment. By about 11am yesterday it was getting really unpleasant.
I tried sleeping for a while in the early afternoon but finally gave up around 4pm because I was too uncomfortable.
Luckily, a combination of fans and open windows made the night bearable.
I was up for most of the night as well, but managed to get in a nap in the early hours to take advantage of the cooler temperatures.
It'll be tomorrow before I can call maintenance and hopefully get the A/C fixed.

    Cool shower time.

    Good evening from India...

Been a long day and quite a memorable one too. First shave with a feather and found BBS heaven. Some penalties due to faltered technique but not a single nick. Its late evening now and hope the stubble grows back in time for a shave tomorrow !!! :(

You guys on the other side of the world have a great day ahead after those lovely shaves !!

Alright, so I spent the day with my mother, and received unexpected gifts and spent some money today. While out grocery shopping, I noticed a Bath and Body Works right next door to Publix (local supermarket chain). Couple dollars later and I now have some C.O. Bigelow shave cream, Rose Water splash, and some Mentha body soap. I was looking for the Mentha shave cream, but they didn't have it. Oh well. Then we drove through a new shopping center that I've been to about a dozen times because there's a Fuddruckers in the plaza and noticed a Crabtree and Evelyn store. We walked around and she bought me some of their shave cream, which came with a tube key I was really digging. Not a bad day so far.
