Hi Jason! The difference between shaving with a straight and a shavette is that the angles are slightly different. You can use a shallower angle with the straight. My recommendation is to pretend that you are using a shavette because you have the muscle memory on the angles. The transition from shavette to straight is very smooth just like your shaves should be.

When The Shave Den store was active a convenient additive called M-Bomb was available.

Current, Stirling is making a similar product called Frost Drops.

I've used both. A couple of drops (or a squirt) on top of soap before loading or right in an aftershave is sure to satisfy most menthol needs.

Good evening, gents! DSC_0795.JPG First shave of december went very well. The NSC soap really has some menthol in it, i can still feel it on my face. And i like it. Good slickness too.
Didn't really have any issues, just an easy, smooth shave.

    Have a great day!

    Good morning, gents!
    Straight Razor Shave #131
    30 Same Straight/Same Setup Challenge #21
Wolstenholm 5/8 Full Hollow Sq Pt
    Stirling Boar Brush
    Stirling Sandalwood AS and SS
    Nivea ASB
I got a very nice, close comfortable shave that is just below BBS. Did cut myself on the moustache area, but it wasn't a major one, thank goodness. I was on autopilot and wasn't as focused as I should be. However, no irritation was to be found so I would give this a Grade 90 shave. Finished with Stirling Sandalwood AS and Nivea ASB. Have a wonderful Sunday guys! 20191120_202559.jpg 20191120_202559.jpg

I still have a couple vials left. I just hope they all stay cold during these months of not being used.

Thanks for the tip! Stirling products are very hard to find here, but i can find menthol crystals very easily. I guess they would dissolve in alcohol based AS?

I have a few shaves each with the straights and I absolutely love them. They were both extremely sharp when they arrived and I think I'm doing a good job at keeping them that way by stropping before every use . Excellent job Bill and Thanks for the opportunity to let me take the plunge !
