Monday NOvember 25 No Repeat (mostly) NOvember. No repeats so far except for scuttle, blades, and alum. Up today, one of my special straight razors, a Snail Forge Ottoman razor - a modern take on the rare Wade & Butcher Ottoman Egyptian razor made in the early 1890's. Bowl/Scuttle - GP12 Soap - HeV Cognac and Cuban Cigars Brush - Paladin PK47 Blade - n/a Razor - Snail Forge Ottoman Post Shave - OSMA Pierre alum, HeV Cognac and Cuban Cigars Balm Shave rating 4 of 5 I really like this razor. I think I messed up with the soap. The lather was over bubbly and kind of dry and caused a less than optimal shave. I did 2 passes, WTG and XTG, with my Ottoman razor but the lather was dry and the shave was just not good. So I cleaned off the Ottoman and put it away and did a third and final pass XTG with my Red Tip. That pass wasn't great either but the stubble was gone although my face hurt. The alum was a little more vocal that I like. The Cognac and Cuban Cigars balm soothed my face some. Happy NOvember and great shaves everyone. - Ken

Two razors this morning, that’s why we have 2 sides to our faces, right? Lol, both first shaves with each, a NOS Cape 2000 and a near-new 11/16-ish Klas Tornblöm frameback. The KT has the distinction of being the cheapest razor that I’ve ever bought, and shaves as well as the most expensive. I’d previously posted in the razor acquisition thread that I bought this razor in a lot of 2 for $16.50 delivered, then the seller refunded $1.30 in shipping charges, so I have a grand sum of $7.60 delivered in the KT. That beats the previous record of $9 sans shipping for a 5/8 Simmons Keen Cutter that’s a square-nose copy of a Mk 31, blood notch and all. Oh, this is a shaving thread, so how did they do? Both stellar, with the KT shaving every bit as well as the Cape if not better. The Cape had a bit of a rough time honing, but see the honing thread for details. Soap was I Coloniali Mango lathered with a M&F Alibaba Finest, perfect for getting into that terra cotta bowl and loading up hard soap. AS was I Coloniali Rhubarb, one of the best balms there is. BDBS on both sides of my face!
Joseph’s beautiful Heljestrand had me pull this one out... Joe Edson Odin’s Edge A customer requested his interpretation of a Heljestrand MK32 and this was the result... I like his rendition. Enjoy your shave. Tom
The only other larger blade I own is this lovely Kropp. It is both smooth and sharp. The lather was spot on tonight and the shave was excellent.
