Let the evidence speak, Joe. :)

...was a chem engineer; relied heavily on partial credit, a bunch of smart friends to drag me along kicking and screaming, and instructors that didn't count attendance as part of the grade to scrape through school; however, I was able to successfully negotiate $2 pitchers of beer from the pizza place that adjoined our campus.

...established earlier that I'm not wrapped too tight (ref: commode cherry bomb incident and Datsun truck Starsky & Hutch maneuver). Please see @Edison Carter for pertinent accident reports and meeting minutes. Not to mention that I barely have a 20-year supply of blades.

I leave all the high level chemistry consultation to you, my friend, where it belongs. I need to go find some blades. ;)

I hear you, Perry. A new razor, soap and splash arrived. Now to decide what should go...I’m pretty sure it will be the Single Ring, the Strop Shoppe Black Tie and the Stirling Gentleman balm...will decide tomorrow for sure.

I will have to do some more research for out here. I have found it difficult to find what I have been looking for. Oddly the other thing I have noticed is that things made here in Japan seem to be more expensive in Japan. I have been looking for some nice razors but haven't found any yet.

Thank you i am going to look into this as well.

Well, well, well, I see we've been busy today. I went out and worked then took Jennifer out to dinner and a movie. Just got home about a half hour ago so there will be no shave on December 1 at Cartel HQ. I had kind of planned that anyway. Still 30 days left in the month. I'll start digging in and catching up. I believe we were on page 13 when I left today. I'll try to get caught up before we hit 30.

Hope you all had a wonderful day and have a fantastic Monday!!

It's good to see you have the proper limits in mind. Keeps things from getting totally out of hand. Also, I'll have to work on more "double dog dares".

I can see it's time to do a formal inventory on my stash. I know I have weeded out a lot of the "off brands" over the past couple of years and added mass quantities of the two I prefer, Voskhod and Sharp Star. I am also low on the other Russians so I'm beginning to feel like I need to solve that issue as well.

I have to say I'm somewhat impressed. I have shaved my head with a pain stick many times but I've never tried it with the Futur clone. I've thought about it but never had the final push of courage to actually try it. My manliness pales in comparison to you sir. :smiley respect:

The Lada is an absolute testament to Russian engineering and manufacturing. It's amazing they stay in one piece long enough to get out the factory door. But they're awesome.

Wow. I think I'm going to archive the first day's posts and use it as the perfect example of the unhijackable nature of this thread. You realize we had multiple posts on ugly cars, ear and nose hair and the problems of middle age, one butt crack and a whole lot of other sorts of nonsense.........and yet we STILL talked about shaving and even shared some solid advice on straights vs. shavettes and other topics of need and interest. Seriously.......how is this possible?!?! I love it! We're nearly five years into this thing and it still functions like the day it first popped up. We must all be geniuses! Well done!

    The Lada?

Actually i still see Ladas very regularly here, can't really say the same about many other 70's and 80's cars. But the Russian border is just a few hours away from here, so that might explain something. :D

I bought mine from Specialized Products. They have a website and are located in Texas. You could go on the internet and find other companies as well. I got 3 micron, 1 micron and .3 micron packages of 25 sheets. You cut them to fit a flat smooth surface such as polished marble. You can make three 3 x 8 strips from each sheet. If you go the lapping route, then make sure it doesn't have the adhesive paper on the back. You should be able to use hone 10 razors per strip of lapping film. It would take years before you run out of film. Now, you can research number of microns to corresponding grit level. If you need to set bevel, then I think you have to go to 15 to 18 microns and progress to the next lower level and continue on down to .3 microns. Unless you rolled the edge from stropping, then I would suggest getting the 3, 1, .3 micron fillms Good luck!
