That's fine, Jim! I'm glad that you found something that works for your body chemistry. As for me, I am an ordinary Joe and I am fortunate that my skin does well with common bath soap. Just to be clear, I never will tell anyone not to use any kind of body soap.

 

I bought one, but never used it. Traded it for two Gem Featherweights on another board. My problem now is that I own too many great razors. I don’t know if it’s technique or design, but they all shave beautifully For me. Only two don’t work well for me, meaning effective for both head and dome. They are my R41 and my Rex Ambassador. I’ve accumulated too many dang razors and at this point will not be acquiring any new ones for awhile. I’ve heard great things about the Injectors, and shaved for 50 yrs with the DE version of that brand, so I know they built great razors. I imagine I’ll get one in the future, but short of a PIF, have no current plans.

 

Hmm, I thought barbershop scents are seasonally neutral.

 

I thought so too, until I tried Clubman in the summer.....Drops of Pinaud perspiration was the result of THAT experiment.

 

I have used reg Clubman Pinaud AS during the summer and didn't have the perspiration problem that you experienced.

Believe it or not but I'd put this soap up against some of the others in my den anyday. There was no puzzle to figure out how to lather , just used a damp boar and city water and Presto...lather . The chin is a other story Jason.

i am going to add my 2 cents..williams is crap.it was good until it was reformulated.the rest is just people defending it because of honor, mindset or loyalty.old school shave soaps offered little post shave qualities unlike todays fluff.thats what aftershave was for.old school body soaps were for just that -remove dirt ,grime,grease.sweat and body oils which hold odors.the doves and camays were for girls..

 

I agree some ppl say they still like to to feel more “old school “

i do like it Paul.it works,but it's not the great end all be all shave soap it used to be..we all shave with exotic shave butters today in comparison.like engine oil .straight up 10w30/lubricates the engine as it needs to.the synths and additives are just fluff to take your $..if you feel you need the fluff then buy it.if not straight oil will do..if your skin is dry ,nourish it ..if not don;t..

 

For only about 50 cents to a buck more you get so much better quality it’s crazy with ARKO AND PALMOLIVE

 

Makes me wonder if Stoylin Unscented soap is like "Fluff with exotic butters".

 

Thanks, Andrew, but I’ve bought about 8 razors in the last two months, 6 for my non-Gillette vintage collection. Maybe a little farther down the line. Thank you for thinking of me. If I buy one more razor at this point, she-who-must-be-obeyed would not be happy.

 

Stirling probably buys the brushes as a finished unit. I'd suspect Yaqi. I've seen a fair share or complaints on the Yaqi boar brushes dropping hairs.

I love my Omega boar brush

I love my Stirling Badger Fan (probably Yaqi)

I love my Stirling Synthetic Tuxedo (probably Yaqi)

I've probably gotten lucky, but my Omega is the top hair dropper.

 

stirling soaps are fantastic products with great value for $$ spent.long lasting and great post shave feel.i think they are one of the best..and as someone else said here,a scent for everyone..most artisan soaps blow domestic mass made soap out of the water..

 

I'd probably go for the Dove for Men, the maker of which bastardized my lifetime fave Lever 200 (who also owns Vaseline).

I chose to spend prolly 10x as much for soap from the folks that I trust at Stirling rather than continue with the Vaseline love from the Unilevers.

Sometimes pleasure costs somebody. I like it for a little more money and no need for the Vaseline.
