Nice! I distinctly remember my dad using Lava when I was growing up. He was (still is) a firearms enthusiast but was mainly a marksman that specialized in Civil War era weapons, both originals and reproductions. He made his own bullets by melting lead and molding them in his workshop. Worked with gunpowder, etc. Also tinkered with cars some. So I remember him using Lava after his hobbies to strip off all the dirt and grime.

That's an idea...standing on a glorified Bill Neumann puck. (Very glorified, that is). :)

    2019 30DCLE w/Omega 10098 boar
    J3 Customs Kamisori

Very fun S&S this morning. 3 passes, DFS+. 1 minor landing nick on the flat of the chin. @jtspartan 2019 30DC handle w/Omega 10098 knot made mounds of bowl overflowing lather with PAA's CK-6 goodness. Today I wanted to compare a favorite, PAA's CK-6, to Wholly Kaw's Siero base used Wednesday. Both the latest soap bases from WK and PAA are really nice...fast lathering, super slick & make nice thick yogurty lather w/excellent pre and post face feel. Slight consistency difference, but that's possibly my water amount or brush used. Both are great for straight razor shaving. This J3Customs is my first example from Derek, a 'Bay purchase back in summer. It is beefy, little feedback other than scrubbing muted sandpaper. Every swipe was smooth and silky today after a short trip through my pasted strop progression late last night.

Didn't get a chance to post yesterday's shave, or comment on others, but did follow along. Always nice shaves, reports, gear and images!

Soap....interesting conversation. Made me think. For many years, I have had an off and on, sometimes severe case of eczema on my lower legs. Prescriptions, OTC recommended lotions, nothing helped. It's gotten better over the past 2 years, never really put a handle on why. In 2019....when I changed my wet shaving routine, I also totally changed my shower routine. Started with Duke Cannon soaps from Duluth Trading, then onto trying the soaps from PAA in June. In 2019, I've gone through 1 bar of Duke Cannon, and two bars from PAA. Just replaced the 3rd bar of soap last week. Second time w/John Frum. ~$18 for 11 months, 3 bars of shower soap. Reading through the soap conversations kind of put it together (some things I really am slow on), and I, knock on wood, do not have an eczema problem at all anymore, haven't in months. Scientific? Absolutely not, but I'll take it. I'll point one other thing out....my oldest daughter likes the Haverford aroma from Stirling. Bought her the soap bar for her birthday in October...she's already asking for another (ordering soon for her stocking stuffer). Stirling's didn't quite last as long, but close. Duke Cannon's lasted the longest....but it is nearly double the size of most bars.

Hope everyone has a Fabulous Friday!

An excellent shave with my "Clubman Boys" this morning. Or simpler put "Clubmen". It's still rather annoying to see the shave cream wiggle out of the can like a snake. But you get over the annoyance quickly when you realize what the shave cream does. :). I do just one pass with creams/foams. I should have administered more onto my neck-will work on that next time. The Original A.S. treated me just fine, as always. I didn't put any on the back of my neck, choosing to put the talc there(and just under my ears). This certainly gives the user that "gentlemanly" feeling.

Interesting Perry. I grew up with Lava. Always a bar on the sink. Dad had a large shop behind the house and we were always into something. How mom kept the bathroom clean is beyond me but she did.

    Oneblade Synthetic Shaving Brush
    Salsa Bowl
    Razorock Black Label
Above the Tie – Calypso, R1 Plate
    Feather Blade – Fresh
    Pinaud Clubman After Shave Lotion

It was just an all-round awesome shave this morning. Really enjoyed the Razorock Black Label. It is hard to beat this soap at its price point. It whips up quick, has a pleasant scent and is just an awesome soap that will hang with the more expensive soaps.

The Calypso and the fresh Feather took care of business this morning. No weepers but I did notice a very small bump that got leveled and produced a very slight spot of red. Got to love those Feathers!

The alum was almost silent and finished the shave off with the Clubman. Danny is smooth this morning. Oh yeah!

I hope everyone has a great Friday and an even better weekend!

I’m a bit late to the party this month. Up to my ears in alligators, but had to stop in to vote for ice cream. As I’m sure Charlie has pointed out to you by now, decadence is my lifestyle, so decadent December is just a meager glimpse into the posh everyday life of MISTER fancy pants. I hope all is well in the 30DC. I’ll have to skip the last 88 pages and just assume the answer is yes. Oh, and could someone bring one of those little umbrellas and an extra garnish for my cocktail? The service seems to be slipping a little around here. I heard a rumor that some of the help snuck off to eat cookies.

And NOW.........it's time once again 4......your FRIDAY FILES, brought to you in living black&white print by...........well, ME.

-First, a huge thank you to all of you who came to my side with your words, well-wishes, etc...after my nasty fall. As you know, I'll be updating you on how things are relative to this(when the kneecaps heal, PT, etc).

-I'm off to a good start with this "exacta" plan-the same shave for only two days, with some occasional exceptions. The first "exception" will be happening right now-I decided for a trifecta with all of my "Clubmen" items.

-Reading the comments in the "Shake Well or Don't Shake" thread(or whatever the title is), I decided to cut down gradually on shaking aftershave bottles prior to use. Certainly those bottles that contain one single ingredient("Johnny One Note, OneTrick Pony")don't need it. And perhaps those that contain many ingredients have been neatly prepared to so as to get them all blended well together" anyway.

    Good afternoon, gents!

I haven't been posting much, i've had some health issues. Lots of talking on the phone with my neurologist etc.
DSC_0807.JPG Today is the Finnish independence day. Don't have everything Finnish to make a shave out of it, but Finland was part of Sweden before Russia got it. So i used only Finnish, Swedish and Russian stuff. The brush is pushing it a bit, as it's from Portugal, but it has a Finnish soapmakers logo on it. :D
Everything went very well, my face is smooth and i can't see any irritation. Didn't nick myself either, i guess i did something right this time.

    Have a great day!

I remember Lava well. Used it for regular hand-washing(though I now know it isn't for that purpose ONLY).

It’s day 6 of Decadent December, and time to break out one of my favorite Vintage Gillettes, my 1905 Silver Plated Old Type. Looks pretty good for a 114 yr old lady! And boy does she deliver the goods! BBS on both dome and face. Great shave all around! My favorite Cream, mentholated Kapo spiced with 5 additional drops of M-Bomb whipped up to a thick, slick protective lather by my favorite brush came close to putting it in the Cryogen class of cold, but not to that tearing head-shaking level of my wonderful Cryogen. Anyway, the result left me feeling cool and refreshed! Great shave!

    SOTD 12/06/19

    RAZOR: 1905 Gillette Old Type
    BLADE: Suneko
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a face and dome scrub with PAA’s Charcoal-Menthol Cube Preshave Soap
    BRUSH: Omega Pro48
    CREAM: Kapo Fresh
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash of face and noggin w/ the brush squeezings followed by Thayers Lavender WH and finished with Fine Snake Bite AS Splash
