I'm a bit late to the party but apple IS making something like a kindle, it's going to be a giant iphone type device, either looking like a big flat iphone or the top half of a macbook. It's going to have multi touch and either a super hyped up version of the iphone software or a super dumbed down version of OSX. There have also been rumors that apple headquarters is recieving massive shipments of random hard copy books so maybe they have something up their sleeve. Also there is a kindle app for the iphone that lets you get all the same books kindle can get.

 

You know the publishers will figure out a way to get there $$$.

I don't pretend to understand why textbooks cost what they do, but I'm uncomfortable with threatening withdrawl of government funding as a means to reduce costs. Seems to punish the user, rather than get at the source of the problem.

Sunny and 77 here - had rain and hail yesterday evening through the night thouh so we were due

 

Yeah, it was getting pretty hot in the metroplex this week (ok, so only the mid 90's, but still). Got to watch a nice lightning show yesterday evening and today is nice and mild.
