Fertilize! Most people forget plants need food and then wonder why they don't do well.

I'm thinking about planting some Early Girl tomatoes this weekend. I've got some pots on my garage roof where there's plenty of sun. Dont' want to take care of a big garden, but loads of tomatoes sound good. Up north, the only way to go is to find varieties with 60 or 70 day growing cycles. (or, at least that's what my old neighbor, the expert, tells me).

    Oh, and Happy Five Jenna!
Hope your back feels better, Ray.
Hey Dom, Pam, JoAnna, and anyone else here!

What did you grow the Japanese Maple from? I've been interested in trying to grow one.

If you like bonsai and want to give it another go, try a jade plant. Those things can go for weeks without watering in the winter (here in Boston) and a couple days in the summer.

    Hi Tom!

I planted the tomato vine in some soil really high in compost. The stuff was black as night. I'm really excited to start gardening again. I haven't done it in years.

    Good morning everyone.

Not much to say other than that I have confirmed two days in a row that I can successfully straight shave this early in the morning. OK, I wouldn't call my results successful; however, they are getting there.

You haven't been made savvy to the joys of the Empire razor?

Friend, let me tell you a little story.

Once upon a time, about 5 months ago, the local contingency of the Striped Sweater Brigade got together and went on a quest to spoliate the antique district of Jefferson. Tired and weary from scouring the stores and digging through literal bowls of razors, the three wise men (and one wise woman) wandered into a fudge shop, beckoned by the sweet, sweet goodness therein. Trodging to the back of the store, they found a cabinet housing a few unidentified razors and some sort of safety razor stropping device with a much-used stone. Then, from among the flotsam and jestom appeared a vision most glorious. After a rousing game of roshambo, the bald one was declared the winner, and made the $12 purchase of the razor with "a handle that looks like an allen wrench." It was housed in a much abused gillette razor case.

The open combed razor was subsequently cleaned, disinfected, and otherwise shined up (a slight task at best; this thing looked like it had never been used). The bald one loaded up a derby blade, lathered up and began his shave.

The clouds parted, and an angel chorus began! The shave was so smooth, the bald one couldn't even feel it cutting his whiskers. At first he assumed the blade had not been at the right angle, but a quick check with his fingertips revealed that his skin was as smooth as glass! It felt like someone had wrapped his face in angel wings and whispered his whiskers away! Women the world over swooned with an inexplicable delight. There were 42 unexplained spontaneous conceptions, and the design for this shirt was concieved, and a voice rang out from the heavens saying, "It is good."

The bald one has since paired this razor with such dubious blades as the Wal-mart Personna and enjoyed many, many glorious shaves with it. This is not A goto-razor. It is THE goto-razor.

    Does that answer your question?
