Police. trapped inside on limited duty at the time.

 

My dad, granddad, and an uncle were all police officers. 97 years between the three of them - all in Spokane, WA. I like cops. Now I get the whole 'uncool' thing...

Hope the back heals and you get back out where you want to be. Dad was always proud that he never took the Sgt's exam; said he just wanted to do the real work. He was a detective for 25 of his 30 years. Grandad was the same way, but sometime along the way made Sgt and wound up as a jailer when he was too old to take down the bad guys any longer.

My favorite 'my granddad the cop' story:

He used to run the paddy wagon (1930's) and round up the drunks on the weekends. One Saturday afternoon, he had a bunch of guys lined up, ready to haul in. As he was going down the line, one guy said "Hey officer Pike, I haven't even been drinking". Granddad looked at him, said "Yeah, but you're thinking about it. Get in the wagon, you're going in".

 

Good evening everyone. I'm about an hour awake now and still beat. Should be an interesting 12 hours at work tonight. I'm off to a good start to the day though. Managed to score a Muhle R41 (cross that off the list) and a Merkur Progress (add that to the list, then cross it off). I've been half heartedly looking for a Progress to send to Mer for customizing. I've had this great idea that I've been holding on to until I could pick up a Progress, and now it's coming together finally.

Heya everyone.

Just got back from some errands and sitting down to an Angry Whopper.

Picked daughter up the lighter cordless shaver, but she started having anxiety issues and claims she will never use it and don't care if the other kids make fun of her. Whatever... I also picked up the $12 portable microscope from Radio Shack (she has really been into my classroom microscopes lately). So we will see if the one is enough of a carrot for the other. At least I guess I don't have to worry about her coveting my razors any time soon if she is mortified by the little battery powered foil cutter.

Looks like a typical slow weekend on here.

Well the thought of Kirsten with a blade scares me. She is too flighty, gets easily frustrated, and the flails about when she does get that way.

Just pokin' my nose in before heading to the grocery store (yes, said I'd do that hours ago, but have been very lazy today). Hope everyone's having a nice Saturday. I'll be around later...

 

I'm back. Sunburned my knees and my left hand. Everyone had a good time and we made it without turning over any canoes.

Seriously, sounds like you had a good time. I remember going out with youth groups on canoe trips when I was young.

Ray, I gotta tell ya something. The doctors said I would'nt live to see the morning. That was nearly 10 years ago. Here I am, running around with razors!

 

Still here... fighting the blarghs and XP's insistance on three dozen or more reboots to get everything updated on a fresh install. rrr
