  1. Some days you're the dog, some you're the hydrant.....

been a hell of a day

first, stress levels are already quite high, so much going on in recent weeks personally, and it's all trying to come to a head.

so, view today's rant in light of previous weeks' crap:

    {rant}
so today I'm supposed to go pick up my wife's grandmother. she's spending the night at our house tonight so she can go to my daughter's dance recital tomorrow.
    okay, no prob.
been painting door frames and (trying to) remove wallpaper, got cleaned up, and left.
got to Gilmer, thought the engine sounded kinda funny...now, bear in mind I'm keeping a very close eye on this engine, as it's a replacement after the camshaft broke in the original engine about 3 months ago. been running fine since. but now it didn't sound right, so I stopped. uh-oh, that's not a good odor emanating from the engine compartment - pop the hood, oil is all. over. the. place.
    well, except in the motor.
    ugh.
walked to nearby auto store, picked up gallon of oil, still cranks and runs, but don't trust it for the hour long, super-hilly trip home, so it still sits at granny's house, we brought her car up here.
that on top of all the other crap going on is just more than what I'm wanting ot deal with
    {/rant}
on the plus side, during my wait for granny to get there, I spied an aluminum handle blue tip superspeed...yeah, it won't stay there as I pass through to get my car back! :D
  2. Sorry to hear about the car issues. Hope it all works out. Hoping for the best on all fronts.
  3. Good Morning everyone! We got our asses handed to us at work last night. I knew the second I took report from the previous shift that it would be hell the minute they said "oh, it was dead today, you guys should be fine tonight" that we would be slammed, and that's exactly what happened. That said, I feel great today. The Progress I bought last night is going right to Mer to become a custom Mergress. Passed along an idea I've been holding close and it got the thumbs up. My Hospital Brand razor also showed up yesterday. Something about it really appeals to me. Add that to the Shave King and I'm back hard into some RAD. I hope everyone goes through today in the same great mood I'm in!
  4. Good morning everyone.

Not much going on here, I gonna have daughter make waffles again and then I am heading into school to work on checking books for damages and starting the packing up at the end of the year process. Just 3.5 days left, I can't believe that it has gone so fast. Its also hard to believe that I have been at this wet-shaving thing for a full school year. Wow. Time flew this year. Oh well.... have a great day!
  5. Morning all!

Corey, sorry to hear about getting slammed at work, but sometimes it does help the time pass. I've seen those Hospital Brand razors a time or too also. Just haven't seen one go through at the right price yet for me.

Justin, have a good day. Going in to work on a Sunday wouldn't be too much fun, but at least the end is in sight.

Me, I'm heading outside on such a beautiful day to finish straightening up the garage.

    Have a great day all.
  6. Good afternoon all! Got a nice sleep in for tonights shift and still in a really good mood.

I've seen one or two on eBay. It's been higher than what I wished to spend on it. Then one popped up on B&B listed as a mystery razor at an excellent price.

Just got a picture from Mer of the finished knob for my Mergress and it looks amazing. It's been less than 24 hours since I contacted him about doing a custom knob and it's done. I just purchased the razor yesterday and it probably just shipped to him today and he's already half done. It already seems like forever and a day until I get the completed product. I'm just way too impatient.
  7. I am eager to find out what you did. Can't wait for you to attach the pictures.
  8. I promise lots of pictures when I receive it. I may need to seriously work on my camera skills to capture the full beauty of it.

And is there such thing as Mergress AD? I've already found myself thinking of about three other designs I'd love to have done.
  9. Hi All and happy Sunday.

Just having coffee after a nice breakfast of potatoes and scrambled egg hash. Yumm...

So Corey, what is a Hospital Brand Razor? Never heard of one before.

(And where's Tracy? He'd love the Mergress talk...:()
  10. To borrow someone else's very large picture:

  11. Thanks Corey! Very cool-looking razor. It looks much like I'd hoped it would - 1940's hospital chic - built inexpensively but indestructibly. It's even got that great shade of green on the box...

Do you know approximately when these were produced, or who made them? I've hunted Google a bit to no avail.
  12. I'm very much in the dark on that info as well. It looks as if Hospital is the company, and I've heard it's from the 50's, but that's in no way definite. That's about all I know. It has an excellent feel to it and construction to it. I'll be loading a blade tonight and giving it a go.
  13. Hi Everybody!

Slow weekend in the HYD as always I see.

Great shave with my O2 from Matt. Birthday razor rocks. Still looking for a V3 for the wife if anybody comes across one let me know please.

What are the plans for everyone this beautiful Sunday? Me? Work.
  14. Hi Dr. Nick!

Very quiet in here today. Nice weather does that, I guess. My SA is S2, or it would be yours (well, your wife's). Still hunting for my birthday razor - a Q3'59 Fat Boy (June IS Q3, right?).

I'm working on pens today, trying to work down a fairly huge backlog (again). Beats hanging around with nothing to do. Popping my head in here every few minutes when I've got a break in the action.

Getting hot in Chitown yet? It's 79 here today. I should be out getting some quality time with a couple of kites. Maybe later...
  15. I believe June would be Q2. I'll keep an eye out for E's and V's. I know I've come across a V at least once.

edited: one day i'll learn to read AND comprehend.
  16. Weather is beautiful here today after many overcast days.
Yeah, what Corey said, June would be a 2. that is mine June 1969 O2.
thanks for keeping an eye out Corey.
  17. Oh yeah, of course it's a 2... doh! Some days I simply amaze myself :ashamed001

Man, it is quiet in here...
  18. Attempted to plant window boxes with marigolds. The bugs attempted to eat me alive.

My legs are covered in bug bites now. Thank goodness for alum blocks!

    I hate the outdoors!
  19. Marigolds are nice, but stinky.

Bug bites, well, they just bite!

I spent an hour outside in the sun; mowed the lawn and did a little watering. Pulled a few weeds. Happy to be back inside.

I'd never have thought to try alum on bug bites. You are a vast wealth of knowledge JoAnna...
  20. Yeah, it smelled like a skunk was near by while I was handling the marigolds.

I first tried alum on bug bites I had scratched a few years ago, for the antiseptic quality. Found it nearly immediately stopped the itching.

Not quite doing the job today though. But I haven't scratched any of them, so maybe if I did the alum would help.

I've applied alum, TSD 2x mentholated a/s milk, and Anherb Conditioner to my legs and the one spot on my arm, and none of it's helping. Trying to freeze the bites so I can't feel them.

JUST WANT TO SCRATCH LIKE CRAZY!!!! :sad024

Oh, the alum also worked wonders on my first and only bee sting.
