Howdy and happy Sunday peeps. Stopping by for my daily dose. Been busy the past couple days taking care of the missus. She had a flare up of pain from the gall bladder surgery. I think she tried to overdo it too soon after. I told her to relax and chill, but she didn't listen.

Shaved w/ my latest purchase of JM Frasers today followed by a splash of the Royall Lyme (both purchased off the BST recently). Pretty nice stuff both. The lime splash did not last long, but it was fragrant while it lasted. Attractive bottle and all that too.

I'm starting to get frustrated w/ the length of time it takes to get my face smooth. I'll never give up the mug and brush shaving and devoting 10 or 15 minutes to it is acceptable. However I'm spending 25 minutes and 4 1/2 to 5 passes on shaving. That's what it takes to get it as smooth as I want it. It just seems like too much. Of course I shave every other day so maybe that has something to do w/ it as well. I'm trying to streamline my process but so far no luck. Any ideas?

    Hey all,

    Hope Sunday's treating you right.

Every day helps me a bunch. I get smooth much faster and my skin does a lot better.

Hope Mrs. Shep is feeling better now.

Make mine just a Coke with lime, please.

I know it has been dead on here lately, but gee whiz... 9:30 PM to 5AM without a post?

Wake up people! Get your priorities back in line. :D

After a few days of the sun, looks like Bill, Ray, and I are gonna see a lot of rain today and tomorrow.

Its a school day and TSD week, so I went and had a DE shave today. I still get closer with the DE than the straight and at a fraction of the time. As long as that is true, I won't be giving up on the DE anytime soon. Ironic part of it... I got a nick today with the DE that stings more than the ones I had been getting on the straight and yesterday's straight shave was nick free.

    Oh no.....

It's still quiet, and it's Monday morning. This isn't one of the signs of the Apocolypse, is it?

Gonna go grab me a nice TSD week shave, then write about it tonight. It might just be signature scent day for me!

Hope everyone has a good one, rain or shine.

    Good morning everyone!

I tried a straight shave today to participate in the TSD Week thing (TSD Strop is all I got) and it just didn't cut it. I think this pretty much kills the last remnants of my desire to straight razor shave. I also figured out that the C&E shave cream I have just doesn't want to lather. Luckily, it makes an excellent base to lather with the C.O. Bigelow cream.

Good afternoon. The rain has let up for now, and I am working on the slow process of transferring all my files from school to home. Nothing like waiting forever to transfer an entire Hard drive of data onto a number of flash drives. I really need to get a portable hard drive one of these years. But is it worth that cost just to back up school computer each June?

Corey, sorry to hear about the lousy shave. Are your razors properly honed?

I'm trusting that they are. The person I bought the razors from is someone who seems to be well respected and knowledged in such things. It's no huge loss. I keep getting excellent razors in the mail to play with.

Little follow-up on using alum blocks on bug bites.

    Bug bites are all gone.

And yes, they were definitely bug bites. They swelled up, like bug bites do. Just little itchy bumps. Now, they are gone. :)

The WORST nick I ever gave myself was with a LT New! This was after a month of practice and I thought I knew what I was doing :( So far, my str8 shaves have gone pretty well. I need to work on my stropping technique more. Been many moons since I stropped a str8, and grampa isn't here to help me get it right.

Take Justin with you and offer him to the bugs.

Would you be able to make a soap or a balm with something like Citronella, Eucalyptus, or Peppermint oils (or a mix of them) as a summer blend to double as a bug repellent, or would that cause skin irritation? Maybe throw in some menthol crystals to add a cooling touch?
