Wild West Brush Works w/Zenith 28mm boar
    J.A. Henckels Friodur INOX 472 6/8

Thick slick fun bowl lather today with the WWB handle loaded with 28mm Zenith boar. This knot also on the replacement list. Salvaged from a copper handled Zenith...it's a shedder, lost count this morning, and not a favorite like the other boar knots I have. The Friodur went through 14k/50k/100k/200k pasted leather strops, then onto linen and leather this morning before the shave. Small time killer (~3-4 minutes) while waiting for hot water to get to our end of the house....haven't gone the typical route of a localized instant hot water solution....just never been a priority. This fine Friodur is a smooth shaver, honed and rescaled by @gssixgun a few months ago. Awesome work. 2.5 passes to a DFS+ this morning. Followed on with PAA's Star Jelly (love this stuff, incredible face feel for hours), then the matching PAA AS/C.

For a scent description....PAA's Cavendish equals an ever so slightly lighter version of Stirling's Haverford. Tobacco & Vanilla, both very well done, probably very similar recipes. Between the two, for my nose, Stirling Haverford barely edges PAA's Cavendish being a stronger aroma out of the bottle. Add a second light application of PAA's version, and my snozzle has a darn tough time telling the difference between the two, aroma or longevity.

Hope everyone has a Terrific Thursday!

I'm definitely a minimalist when it comes to post-shave. Just alum about 99.9% of the time. I use the after shaves occasionally if I'm doing something other than working but just apply it more as a cologne in the mornings. It's a good wake up call as well. Since I shave at night I don't use them since the alum takes care of everything I need and I don't need any extra smelly stuff to impress Jennifer. ;)

Great shave, Jeff! I was always intrigued by Obsidian because I like anisette in my coffee.

Another amazing photo, Blair! Thanks for the comparison of Cavendish to Haverford. I had Haverford and donated it to the Nationwide Box (which is how I think you ended up with it). It was a little sweet for me, so I would guess Cavendish would likely end up that way. I'm in a long term search to replace my Jeeves Tobacco Bay Leaf and considered Cavendish. I have a sample of it and will still try it, but I appreciate the comparison.

Very nice, Mark! I like the color of the brush. I was lucky to get the very last one in that color. It is being shipped.

Yep, that's the Haverford I have. Thanks for the PIF! It is slightly sweet, but I'm a fan of both. Wifey approved, daughter got Haverford items for her birthday. I'm still searching tobacco/vanilla though....may have to go smell the Tom Ford version, not to buy!, but for a comparison. I follow your thinking, there's likely a slightly better version out there. Shame the Jeeves is NLA.

Too bad about the soap, Joseph. Great shave though.

Thanks, Joseph! I want one that’s comparable to yours. There’s no rush on my part. I have more than enough shiny toys to keep me busy at present. As my late wife was known to say, “the only difference between men and boys, is the price of their toys”.

Had a pleasant and relaxing 3 pass shave earlier this morning. I needed it after a lousy night. What was Gary's line- 'Up between naps'? Sounds about right. I got the usual, excellent SV lather with this excellently scented soap and am quite smooth. Not perfect, but not too far from it. My lower neck was my nemesis today. I've enjoyed my run with the 'crat jr and now will move onto another non-OC DE as per my focus this month. One thing I find odd- I have 3 SV soap/splash combos. All 3 soaps are exactly the same size, 5.3 oz. All 3 matching splashes are different sizes- one 100ml, one 125ml and one 150ml. Odd.
    Have a great day all!

It’s a really nice mentholated anise soap! As a friend, I would steer you here and away from that gaseous abomination I used on Tuesday. It’s quite refreshing and has that lovely anise scent.
