This one's going to let you send pictures by MMS. That's cutting edge 2003 technology there.

Back from daughter' school, lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings and Bowling. Daughter had conniptions, wife got pissed off. It was just one smashingly fun time by all. Just got home and getting caught up on things for an hour or so until we are back off for Monday appointments.

Jen: Sorry about the iPhone. In this world of planned obsolescence, technology tanks... I no longer pay for extended warranty on things with the assumption that it will cost me more in shipping and hassle and the warranty cost than what buying a newer and better one down the road will cost. Of course Murphy just bites me in the a$$ and have things die before they get out of the box.

Mike: glad to hear VBS is over. That was always much more stress than it should be.

Micah: glad to hear the trial is over. Keep on doing what you have been doing and forget the griefers!

MMS? The original iPhone should have had the ability to do that. And no cut and paste? Really? Whose idea was that?

    :(

How are you? Cold completely gone?

Yes. The iPhone 3GS has new guts to improve speed and handling of applications. The camera has been upgraded to a 3MP auto focus camera. Battery life has been extended. The new phones will ship with OS 3.0 which adds MMS capabilities, an enhanced search function, and cut and paste, along with other tweaks and additions. The 16gig will cost 199, the 32gig 299, and as of today, all 8gig standard 3G models are now 99 bucks.

    No, my wife was.

She's only lived in this area for about 7 years and doesn't really know her way around, as we don't get too far away from home. Well, she got district jury duty in a town about 60 miles from home. She's only ever been to the town 2 times before and went different routes both times, so I drove her to jury duty and hung out while she got picked. :( Well, she wanted me to drive her down the next day, so I went along for the ride, and sat in on the case, because, hey, what else did I have to do all day? My razor buying money is already depleted for the month, so I might as well watch a little Matlock, right?

Danged if I didn't get hooked. It was fascinating, so I went back every day I could. I was thoroughly suprised to find out just how much like T.V. the trial really was. Except stretched out over a week. The hardest part, though, was that she wasn't allowed to talk about it, so I couldn't talk to her about it. I didn't want to influence her in any way. I was actually a little surprised that they came up with pretty much the same decision I did.

I thought there was a software update that was going to let the current versions do that too?????

Yup, OS 3.0 will be getting a full release to the iPhone lineup. It looks like the 3GS will be the spearhead of that. I'm guessing that, with the GS launching June 19th, that they'll either release the update on or very close to that date for everyone else.

Agh...that would be really interesting to watch a whole trial like that especially one like that where the were looking for a big ol' damage amount.

That is really all I expected, minor tweaks. As long as it is selling like hot cakes, Apple's not stupid enough to mess with it too much. Once sales start falling off, then there will be a "New" IPhone.

Whoa. We haven't been this busy in awhile. I guess that's why everyone missed it when I said:

    H E L L O ! ! !

    a few minutes ago. :D

I was tempted to get the new Palm Pre, but they sold out right away and now I'm thinking it's better to wait until the second generation is released in a few months anyway. I know everyone is ga ga over the iphone, but I've heard two complaints about it: AT&T service sucks and it isn't really a true smart phone. I don't have much interest in the iphone anyway, but those two things kind of seal the deal for me.

Oh okay. I had been holding out on getting one for the wife because she loves to send pics of the kids to fam and friends. So when i read the news for the OS 3.0 I got my wife one thinking it was already on the phone i bought. Should have read that it had yet to be released. Long story short, she like iphone but not like no send pics w/o it being such a hassle.

    Hello Shep!

I have played with my wife's iphone and it is definitely not a smart phone like a BB or Palm, etc. More like a fun toy!

Hi Shep! My feelings exactly on the IPhone/Pre thing.

after some more reading it looks like it won't be worth it to upgrade to the 3GS although I could really use the extra 16 gigs that I'd get with the shiny 32 gig version. My 3G phone is getting everything the new one has except video recording and a compass, I can live with that. The new macbooks make me wish I needed an upgrade.... I do intend to get the mac tablet when it comes out because my macbook pro is kind of big to carry everywhere. With the iphone with tethering and the little tablet I'll be good to go anywhere.

The only reason I got the extended warranty on the iphone 3G is I'm on my 4th one and I got it last July 11th when it came out.

edit: don't blame apple for my 3 dead phones... I drop them a lot

Where do you get your warranty from?

Hello Shep. My feelings on the iPhone are similar. It's not a smart phone. It's an excellent multimedia phone, but it is very limited as a smart phone. The one thing I love about my Blackberry is that it's incredibly versatile, works incredibly well at multitasking, and is very much an "office on the go" kind of phone. I may not need that kind of office portability right now, but it's nice to have push email instead of POP, multiple apps running at once instead of one app at a time, and a better sync option than iTunes. The iPhone is nice for what it is, but it's no more smart phone than a Speak and Spell is a word processor.

The Pre is the first phone that might shake my love for Blackberry. After seeing some videos and reviews, the OS looks incredibly slick and functional, with impressive handling of multiple applications and excellent multimedia ability. If it hits Verizon, I'll give it a very strong look.
