DEcember 23rd ‘51 Canadian Tech w Stainless Lux handle Omega Pro/Poculi First Canadian Maximo Gomez SS Thayers CL Unconditional Surrender AS I am way behind on the thread...a really busy couple of days around the Spartan abode. Took some time for a full 3 passer earlier. This soap refuses to die, but did produce another fine lather. I don’t often make a frankenrazor, but did swap out the usual ball-end handle for this Stainless Steel Lux. A nice, heavy handle that worked well with this head. I’m not perfectly smooth, but not very far from it after mowing down 48 hrs worth. The Sputnik is worn, I think, and I’ll swap it out for something else next time. Have a great day all!
Dec 23 Good afternoon guys! Fatboy E2 (9) Rockwell Blade (5) Barbury Synthetic Brush CF Cryogen SS and AS Nivea not pictured I just got the Cryogen SS and AS. They shipped it Sat so it was on 2 day priority. That's the fastest delivery ever! Ok, originally I was going to test lather the soap because I am so curious and my 23 hr stubble really didn't need to be shaved, but why waste shaving soap! I had a little difficulty making this lather and I needed plenty of water to get a decent lather. It could be my cheap brush or my hard water, but I will dial it in eventually. Finally got a decent lather and you do feel the cold after each application of water to build up the lather, but it wasn't unbearable. Rinsed my face with cold water and yes it was more cold. Lol! The full impact was during the second application and it was freezing cold! It felt like I shoved my head in the freezer for at least 15 sec. Lol! Finished with the second pass and the shave was fine. Now, if I have to make a comparison between Proraso Green and CF Cryogen, then it is like comparing a 90 lb weakling to a Hulk Hogan! As a non-menthol person per se, this was an experience and I have to say that I liked the ride! I still felt the tingle 15 to 20 min after the shave. I have to say that this will wake you up that you won't need coffee! Finished with the matching aftershave for another hit of uber menthol kick, but it wasn't as powerful as the soap. Waited 10 min to apply the Nivea and it still felt cool and tingly. Sorry, Danny, I get to keep my shave equipment and Jeff, I more than survived. Lol! I guess you can say that this non-menthol guy went to the head of the class in Menthol 101! Now, will this make me a true menth head. No, but at least I can say I have more options because I can say that I can handle any mentholated soap. One more thing, I didn't get any tearing of the eyes which kind of surprised me. To those that want to try it whether you're a menth head or not, go for it! It truly is an experience. However, I would get the sample size if you are not a menthe head. There you have it! Have a great day guys!
Great photo Joe. Congrats on the new soap and aftershave. Glad they worked out well for you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wonderful report, Joe! I have some pretty cold stuff. I may have to pick up Cryogen to compare with my Stirling glacials and my PAA Frost Byte.
Thank you, Jim! Since you are a menthol guy, I believe you can handle it. I have read this soap is just a little colder than the glacials.
