Trying out my recently acquired Vi-John products.

The cream is nice but would probably perform better in soft water. The blades are just okay. I got a good shave but these are inexpensive for a reason. They seem to be lacking a bit in the smoothness department.

On a more positive note, I really like Handsome Rob's PSO and I really like Cremo's body wash.

Oneblade Core - 1st time using

Post- cold water & Neutrogena alcohol-free toner

Love the Proraso Red & the scent. I not only felt like I was applying shaving cream, it felt like I was moisturizing my face. Really whips up a thick lather for this DE/soap newbie.

My first time using the Oneblade after starting my first month of safety razor use with a Merkur 34c and Astra SP.

Initial thoughts:

• The razor has a really good feel- nice heft, well balanced, good grip, a quality feel to it
• On first pass I was initially disappointed with the razor as the shave did not feel close, despite the good slickness of the Proraso
• Where this blade shines, for me, is on 2nd and 3rd passes - no nicks or irritation, buttery smooth across my face (WTG, XTG, ATG), putting the safety in safety razor
• I'm a big fan of pivoting heads, and this works really well
• Con: For me it was difficult to shave in the "nooks & crannies" areas under my nose and above my lip. I like to keep my 2-blade cart Gillette Atra+ on hand for clean up duty

I think the Oneblade would be an excellent safety razor for younger shavers starting out, and those new to safety razors. Since I'm so new myself I'll continue to use and report back as I gain more experience.

Finally, the Ogallala Bay Rum & Sandalwood is an excellent complement to the Proraso Red.
