Myrsol Don Carlos 1972~~The "Duke"~~Feather AS-D2~~Wilkinson "Light Brigade"
After reading @PLANofMAN 's latest article, I decided on some extreme buffing.
Now listen up :whacky024: s, this is an advanced technique, so proceed at your own risk.
In my den, the absolute best razor use this technique is the Feather AS-D2.
I made a compete mess of the Myrsol lather, first by completely over hydrating the soap
    (yes, this is indeed possible),
and second, by dropping my lather bowl into my sink.
So...da capo (that's for you, Perry).
For those who suffer to read my vociferous and long-winded posts on a regular basis,
you will recall that this particular soap was laden with granules.
    THEY'RE BACK!!!!! :angry019:
    Ask me if I will be re-purchasing a Myrsol soap again...go on...ask...
Now, for extreme buffing to be successful, the blade has to be smooth and sharp.
The many, many times used Light Brigade was very smooth, but the edge is gone.
    Binned.
Great scent on the Don Carlos 1972. Too bad the soap is so crappy.
It irks the you know what out of me that a huge name in men's shaving products,
doesn't even understand the basic principles of saponification.

My vintage razor a day shaving exercise is rapidly drawing to a close. On this 29th day of Decadent December I selected a NOS LaResche 901 safety razor and had a bit of a rough go. The razor was made in the 1960s and marked the beginning of the end for LaResche safety razor production. The open comb had a few bent teeth requiring straightening, and just did not seem to even begin to approach the quality level of the 51 or their masterpiece, the 77. The razor had a relatively narrow sweet spot, and only seemed to perform decently when riding the cap. The result was an acceptable DFS with a few minor weepers that did not require the styptic. The alum block settled things down nicely. The Gillette Pure shave cream is a nice product and lathered up beautifully, and did it’s job well. I feel clean and refreshed, but not particularly smooth.

    RAZOR: LaResche 901
    BLADE: Suneko
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with PAA’s Charcoal-Menthol Cube Preshave Soap
    BRUSH: Viking Silvertip Badger
POSTSHAVE: Cold water rinse followed by Thayers Lavender WH and finished with Fine Lavender Pour Homme

If it is one of the fragrance oils causing the sting, then it certainly could be related to how much it is shaken, as that could mean you get more or less concentration as you shake more or less. Of course, if it is one oil, and you are shaking it less eventually, that oil will be super concentrated and it will be worse.

Back again with Stoylin Spice this morning, and I knew right away what I did wrong the first times I used it, because I did it today, too.....TOO MUCH A.S. This is one A.S. that shouldn't be applied to excess. Besides, the soap fragrance is there to begin with. But a nice Stoylin shave.
