Adam! Seriously awesome to see you pop in. Congrats on the NB19, even if it was only to avoid the death stare again...:happy102:
Nice new hobby, but when are we going to see your leatherworks again?

Good looking combo, Tim. You aren’t the first to get a little irritation with a MMOC...

We need a good tallow vs vegan gabfest to start the month... Well done, Comrade!
FWIW, the best Vegan soap in my den is Saponificio Varesino (4.3 base) and the best Vegan Cream is Castle Forbes. Both are as good or better than any tallow product I have. Soap Commander and Sudsy Soapery are also fine Vegan products. Generally though, I am with you and do look for tallow based stuff.

Thanks! I'm dissecting the MMOC one shave at a time--when I first got it, the thing was dissecting me. I'm liking it more and more, though--today was one of the good days.

I had shaved with DEs for several months until I gave any SEs a go. My first ones were several injectors. I would recommend most all of them. They were Schicks and quite tame ones (E3, G4, I1) and then I found a PAL Injectomatic in a local shop. That one is not mild.
I then got a GEM Jr. It is a nice easy SE. I followed that up with the aforementioned MMOC. It took me a bit to get it dialed in and I was very happy I started with some other SEs first.

True, that! My first shave with the 1912 was so nice I tabled my de's.

Funny thing is that I never intended to get an MMOC in the first place. My purchase of the 1912 from the bay arrived later than the seller felt comfortable with, so he threw in the MMOC--gratis. It was a terribly generous gesture that merits me at least learning to shave with it ;)

i haven't really paid attention to which is better ,tallow or veggy based.i have multiples of stirling like most here and proraso creams/croaps.not sure what they are.A and E i have 2 of,barrister's reserve 2 ,sv felce ,1 paa doppelganger, some razorock stuff and 3 tfs.the rest are 1 of.they were mostly purchased for scents..they are all fantastic at what they do although some have post shave ingredients..i use post shave products so not so bothered about what the soaps have .is tabac tallow?

very cool.a more challenging razor can refine ones technique..unless it is damaged of course.then you will just be frustrated..

Thanks, Jason. Interesting you should ask. Last week, I finally started getting my Leatherworks shop set up again. Being as my no buy was over, I purchased 60 vintage strops today. With the other 25 I have, that should keep me busy for a while with restoring and reconditioning.

I'm always willing to bake cookies for the crew, but since the ice cream shipments from Florida have never arrived I'm holding out.
