Nothing like a smooth face and close shave to start the decade. The Fritz Bracht DOVO did the trick. :happy036:

January 3rd SOTD, Enoch Shave #1!!

Finally... Both my Enoch and Occams DE arrived today. I held off shaving for 2 days for this. The Enoch is a handsome razor and well balanced.

I thought I'd give a titan mild guard blades a try in the Enoch for its maiden voyage. I hadn't noticed anyone try a guard type AC blade yet so I figured why not.

Three days of growth were no match. Considering it's efficiency despite my stiff and thick beard, I had a very smooth and comfortable shave that left me perfectly clean shaven with no irritation whatsoever. Plus, I had no alum feedback at all. That's absolutely incredible for me. I need more shaves but I'm really impressed so far.

Now I need to get a few schick prolines to try out. Happy shaves all.

    Josh

Still kicking. Lot of bad weather wrecking the feed from our dish. Freezing rain, ice pellets, and snow. Had a good shave today.

Soap Mug - Antique Northwood Dandelion Amethyst Carnival Glass Mug circa 1912

***EDIT - 2-pass + minor clean up. Paid a price for BBS. This is a razor where perhaps I should scale down expectations to "DFS" and use only 1-pass and maybe the most delicate of touch ups. It's the most aggressive/difficult razor in my collection to get a non-damaging shave from. If the shaving soap lather even ever so slightly dries and loses glide, then this razor's blade exposure can lead to a gash.....and I got a minor one. I've had worse.

This shave required me to go to my PAA Alum Block and institute my anti-irritation and enhanced-recovery protocol of products. I have a super-expensive skin gel that enhances healing speed called Neocutis....but I ran out! Empty bottle. My next trick is to apply the common acne medication benzoyl peroxide (to prevent shaving bumps) over the razor burned skin along with a good balm like the PAA balm (promote healing) I normally use, then add a very light amount of cortizone (reduce the immediate immune reaction causing redness on the skin). Within hours the skin usually settles down and the redness fades. Usually this protocol allows me to shave the next day. But without the Neocutis gel, that might not happen so I might need to skip tomorrow's shave. We'll see.

Luckily I'm pretty much staying in most of the day and probably only going out to the grocery store for a few minutes.

If I had somewhere important to go and didn't want a spectacle of red skin, there is the old-fashioned, and highly effective product called talcum powder. It effective puts a dry barrier on razor burned skin and calms it down. The down side to this trick is that the skin is not in a full state of recovery. It's 'fooled' into thinking there is a layer of skin over the injured area. So, healing doesn't fully start until you wash off the talc. So, when I am forced into using talc I usually have to skip the next day's shave so my skin can fully recover.
