It was a special edition meet-up soap for the Dirty South Shavers group, which is a Facebook shaving forum. They had a meet-up this past summer and Rod made the featured soap and aftershave. He had limited supply and it sold out.
OK thanks Perry.......at least I hope he saw my comment on here that it was the best design I've seen him make.
Ehhhh ..LADIES AND Uh Gentlemen: Now with the second Tony Awards in the books, I just placed the order for the Championship Set: A.S.-Gentleman Brush-24 x 51 Synthetic. This will be my 3rd Stoylin brush, and I think the Gentleman A.S. can combine well with a number of my soaps(and of course the Barbasol&Gillette Sophisticated Goo cans). Course I recall really liking the scent, from the sample.
Thanks Joe....and by the way, I appreciated your comments about a benefit of doing a 3-pass shave. I could put that to the test the next time I pull out my Stoylin Unscented A.S. It'd be nice to have the soap outdo the aftershave-these unscented aftershaves still have SOME kind of scent to them-it isn't like a Plain Water aftershave.
Thanks, Paul! I really try to keep my straight and safety shaves to 2 to 2.5 passes. Three passes are fine with me, but I find it is overkill for me. Everyone's beard is different so whatever it takes to get the best shave for you is paramount. The ultimate goal is to get great shaves with the minimum number of passes.
You're right, and sometimes I hesitate before the second pass, but then I think about all the soap still on the brush that would be wasted.
Boy, that Baker St. came on like a burning flame. Settled down after a while. I'll come back with it again tomorrow, but for some reason I didn't expect the burn. Nice scent.
LOVE the scent, but could do without the slow burn the AS tends to give me. Sorry to hear you react to my favorite scent the same way I do. It kills me to say it, but I might not repeat this purchase. The burn hasn't been bad enough to keep me from using it, but it is an a niggling little annoyance--and I get annoyed at so many things already
Actually, I was thinking same thing. I'll give it a few more "go's" but that burn..as I say...startled me today.
The Shavette Showdown Round 2 *Feather DX - Feather Professional Super *Focus R21 Evolution plastic doodad barbering tool - 1/2 Feather DE *Focus R28 Slim Al - 1/2 Gillette Silver Blue DE I had to look back in the archives to see when I started this throwdown. It has been a month. Well I think I'll try to finish up this month. Finished up my first tub of BoS 2019 (Tsuka). Glad I got backups of the #1 slot holder on The Max Headroom List of Most Glorious Stanks. Stirling still has Tsuka left. Max Headroom says don't whine to him if you miss out again. The Exalted Blue Ming was on hand to oversee the supreme lather controls for the competition. The only blood on steel showing up was the soap. 3 excellent shaves with a jostle in the works. I have not experienced any shave at the level of the Feather DX - ProSuper combo on shave 1. Shave #2 still has the DX on top. My next shave was the all aluminum Focus R28 Slim Al with my pre-AC shavette fave, the GSB. End result was as good as the DX even though it did not sever hair with the same ease. It would be hard to tell the difference between shaves 1 and 2. Third shave was using my first shavette, the Focus R21 Evolution loaded with a Feather. I'm curious about how Feather AC vs Feather DE would work out. The shave was better than #1 because it seemed to smooth out (not unlike this blade for me elsewhere). Most of the time, the R28 outshaves the R21 just a bit with the same blade. The Feather on (2) makes this one up over for a #2 finish. Well folks, happy shaves. Really great to hear from the folks not seen in a while. Happy New Year to you! And...... for the newcomers...... you are getting a good glimpse of our great friend, the sometimes incendiary..... 'danger' Charlie........who as a young slide-stick carrying chemical engineering prodigy, was able to "cherry bomb" the High School commode and successfully pin it on his buddies.
Ehh..LADIES and uh Gentlemen. Y'know, Feb 2 may be the day when Punksatawney comes out of the snow to check for his shadow to determine when Spring weather is coming around the bend but in the Wet Shave World it is the first day of the 2021 Stoylin Tony Awards Nominations. I'm going up to 6 dates this year, one every other month. But I'll announce each upcoming date one at a time, so as not to confuse the audience.
Sure am glad I got my Kong Synthetic when I did. It's an awesome brush. Clayton Sent from my SM-A705U using Tapatalk

True that! Can't imagine shaving without it. One of the best deals in wet-shaving. RIP Kong; you will be missed, but hopefully not anytime soon (by me, at least ).
Just more fuel for the FOMO neurosis....... When what I REALLY should be planning is a better shelving system for the current brushes!!
I made an interesting discovery yesterday, and confirmed it again today. Stirling Gentleman is a favorite for me and many others (ironically not my wife), and really opened the door to the tobacco world for me. It’s a lighter, floral interpretation to MY nose, but it’s awesome. So is Haverford in a different but equal way. AND so is RazoRock’s “Puros.” I’ve had a bottle for over a year and only sniff it occasionally. But since my new appreciation for tobacco I thought I would give it a try on the weekend away from coworkers. The surprise came when the pure tobacco leaf scent (not really a designer interpretation, but the real thing) spent a few hours on my skin, well past the dry down. It turned into the same sweet scent as Gentleman! While everyone’s chemistry is different, that’s what mine did two days in a row. It really drove home the fact that a scent can’t be evaluated strictly from the bottle. Just wanted to share my discovery. I’m still a devout Stirling user and salesman, and that’s not going to change, but Puros is worth a try if you just can’t get enough different tobaccos in your life.
When it comes to tobacco scents, I much prefer the "sweet" persuasion. I had a look at Puros omce....may do so again. Gentleman should be here soon(the Tony Award winning A.S.).
No wonder I couldn't get it at the Tonys.....it was my choice, along with the Gentleman A.S., but by the time the "Best In Show"(Tony finals)came around, it was gone.
Menthol Monday: Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster Junjie/new Gillette Stirling Glacial Obsidian SS Stirling Glacial Unscented ASB B&M Arctique AS Splash Music: Orchestre Makassy “Mume Wangu” It’s been ages since I’ve used this Junjie razor - would you believe that I paid only a dollar and a half for it? It’s probably the cheapest DE in existence but I must admit that it’s pretty damned good. Today was my third consecutive day using a hyper mentholated soap - the Glacial Obsidian’s beautiful black licorice scent filled the bathroom, the lather was super slick as well as rich, and the menthol sensation was so potent that it felt borderline painful but in a good way. The Glacial Unscented balm and the Arctique aftershave intensified the freeze ten fold. What a glorious shave this was. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
