I was in almond mood again and I decided for this soap, which is, by now, at its end.

It is a pleasure to load in a bowl of this size and to be able to use a brush that I like a lot but whose knot is too big for 'normal' bowls.

The razor blade behaved well: evidently, in my hand, it gets better when it's a bit used...

I could shave with a foggy and muffled atmosphere and Pertucciani's music was the perfect background.

I apologize for the lack of shaving posts over the last 2 weeks or so, i got pre occupied with holidays, and i havent really had time to record and post shave of the days.

Currently the super max blue diamond ive been using for two months has peaked, its still buttery smooth after 32 2 pass shaves with touch ups (yes you read that correctly, 32!)

This is definitely a match for the gillette 7 o clock sharp edges in terms of longevity and sharpness and will most likely become my go to gillette replacement.

The arko has been my standard soap for many months now, but i shaved with arko for the entire December.

Without further ado, heres my first SOTD post of 2020.

As I have had a really bad cold for a few days I decided I needed some Wintergreen and Menthol to clear my head!

Simpson Brushes appear to be branching out with their branding. There are Simpson Brushes with the decal, Simpsons Brushes which have printed handles and Alexander Simpson Brushes which are their lower end Synthetics. Today's brush is actually very nice. A knot size similar to the Chubby2 Synthetic with Soverign Fibre, no glue bump and no stated place of Origin. The handle is beautiful!.


3 passes for a lovely shave....not perfect as I find most menthol soaps to be quite drying.....but at least I can breath again!

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Vintage Life Morning TOST face lathered well with Jayaruh #30 Brush. I did two passes and a cleanup with the Lee Mfg. 5/8 razor and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Pinaud Clubman AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
