I've been replacing cotton underwear bottoms with synthetic materials over the past year. This was motivated by my old bottoms developing rips and one where the a$$ end was completely non-existent...I digress. I occurred to me that men's shorts are moving toward the same type materials as women's under garments. It took us a long time to figure out that some materials just feel better down there. Amazon had a good deal, $22 for 4 units and I order one and then another 4 later. Much better feel.
I tried some long underwear a few years back that was synthetic (think UnderArmour) and went back to cotton. My issues were static electricity, clingy fabric, and smell. The other thing I notice (with sweaters/pullovers) with some synthetics is pilling. Obviously the synthetics last longer but I eventually decided I like the feel of natural fibers better. Some of my socks, dress shirts, and dress slacks are blended with synthetics but most of my closet is natural stuff.
Interesting that the ad notes a functional fly - I didn't know there was such a thing as a non-functional fly
I remember having a Bill Rogers polyprophilene running top that retained the odor of every mile. Newer or more modern materials have improved.....
I recall that you could buy a product to add to the laundry that would treat the smell. It seemed to be on the shelves in stores that sold all of the high-tech running and biking clothing.
I do prefer boxer briefs. For many years I wore regular briefs and then for many years wore boxers. I don't recall now why the switch but I went to boxer briefs and now for many years that's all I've worn.
My father required me and my brother to wear tighty whities or a jockstrap. He said we would understand why when we got older. It was easier to wear the tighty whities. Never wore anything else. Now that I'm older, I understand why. tp
Well, I'm am older and have adult children, but I do not appreciate your father's requirements…..LOL!!
Yes, well, it was more an issue of having adult pain rather than having adult children. Some do, some don't have that problem. Dad took no chances. Well.... tp
There is a theory that tight underwear reduces sperm count. Perhaps he didn't want grandchildren..... https://www.webmd.com/infertility-and-reproduction/features/boxers-vs-briefs-increasing-sperm-count
I guess I"m behind the curve insofar as "advanced" drawers, but my tech level for skivvies runs to Fruit of the Loom, 100% cotton, briefs at 7 pairs for $13.95 shipped via Amazon Prime. When they get "undesirable" then toss them in the trash and pull another pair out of the drawer of drawers!
Yep, and I used to wear these a long time ago for vigorous activity. The old PT Shorts had a webbing to hold things in. Same with my current workout shorts.
