My mom was Italian, and when we visited my grandmother, we knew that if we said no to thirds, it was still dumped on our plate! I agree, food was love!

50 yrs of Krona shaves definitely prepared me, Charlie, but I learned technique here, and am very grateful to all of you for your guidance as I embarked on this journey. I actually think that I’m razored out! I need to start simplifying at this point.

    Good evening, fellas!
    Straight shave #143
    Dovo Special 5/8 round point.
    Jones Shake Sharp Razor (Headshave)
    2 Roswell DE blades (1)
    Rockwell Synthetic Brush
Music City Suds Lavender SS and AS
    Modessa Witchhazel
    Pinaud Styptic
    Nivea ASB
I wasn't planning on doing any shaving until tomorrow, but I stayed home and decided to shave this evening.
I decided to use the Jones Shake Sharp that was recently given to me by Jeff @jgreenepa for my headshave. Thanks Jeff, it is a nice looking razor and it did an excellent headshave. On with the headshave review, the Rockwell has never let me down and tonight's no exception. It really made a nice head lather and the lavender smell is really nice. This scent is not super sweet and it is on the smoky side. I can use it all year round. The razor did a very nice job on my head for a nice BBS shave. I consider it in between mild and aggressive. Using Jeff's suggestion, I loaded 2 blades. I have to believe one blade wouldn't cut it. I will use this razor on my face next week and will give my final thoughts on it.
Face shave: The lineup is the same except the razor. Did 2 passes and got an IBSS+ with one weep. Applied witchhazel and styptic to take care of it. Applied the matching aftershave and balm on both face and head for a nice experience. Have a great night guys! 20200104_191705.jpg 20200104_191705.jpg

Great shave, Joe! I love the Shake Sharp for headshaves, and it’s a great face shaver as well. I like to use two Suneko or two Feathers. Enjoy your face shave!

Thanks, Jeff! Is there any reason why you prefer to use 2 blades in this razor?

I've used both a single and stacked blades. Jeff Mudrick turned me on to stacked blades. I have found that they deliver a closer shave than just a single blade. Jeff also recommended using a shim underneath a single blade as an option. In fact, Jeff never used stack blades in the model I sent you. He recommended it for the Bakelite model 1.0 which he owns. He was never able to load stacked blades in the other models for whatever reason. The razor was initially designed to work with carbon steel blades which are thicker than modern stainless steel blades. Thus I believe his rationale was to accommodate the thinness of modern blades. I have preferred to use stacked blades in every model of Shake Sharp I own, and I have all but the Model 1.0. Stacked blades have worked very well for me, but as they say, YMMV.

Thanks for the explanation, Jeff. I figured that was the reason, but I wanted to be sure. I will experiment using a single blade when I exhaust the 2 blades that are presently in the blade.
