1/8/20 Third shave of the focus
Razor: Genco 5/8 with rosewood scales
Brush: Maggard’s acrylic with 28mm badger
Soap: Jeeves of Hudson Street- Mountain Rain
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum, Thayer’s Witch Hazel-Rose
Aftershave: JS Slone 1947

Today’s shave didn’t quite make the DFS mark. I missed some stubble on my neck, and set the razor down too hard on the base of my neck, and ended up with an inch and a half long scab there. I was rushing, and the results showed that. The plus side is that I worked the edge on the Coticule a bit, and got it up to such a level of comfort and keenness, I didn’t even feel it bite my neck, and didn’t notice until the alum. I will say I have the edge to the crispness and keenness I wanted, but it is also a softer edge than using straight synthetic stones. I am pretty pleased with what I managed to do. I grabbed this brush because I saw it in the back of my den picture yesterday, and couldn't remember what it was. I won it as a door prize at a meet up in KC last year, and haven't used it much. Big brush, but it worked well. The soap for today had been in my storage unit unopened for two years. I wasn't sure if the heat and freezing would have affected it, but it seems fine. Three quick passes, and the JS Sloan 1947 aftershave was a nice finish. Good skin food and scent, but the scent on this one only lasts 20 min or so. Since I will be in meetings in small offices all day, this is a good thing.

 

Very nice, Jim. That Big Shave S'west sounds amazing. BTW, is that Bigfoot skulking around by the cactus on the bottom of the soap tin? 'Cause if it is... awesome!

 

That's like the new Clubman shave "jar" of shaving cream-it's brushless. I'm on the fence about these brushless shave creams, but then all hair-styling gels are brushless too, and I seem to manage well with them.

Well, it was OK, but I think I have evolved into the "just 2 days" plan. Some do earn the threefer though.

 

Nice shave with a big ouch, Adam! Unfortunately, experienced straight-shavers are on auto-pilot and that's when mishaps occur. I have been there and done that!

 

I guess that would include me, with my straight disposeABLE.

 

thank you Joe..the printing is so small,i couldn't read it without the reading specs.it did lather up with the brush,just a lower volume.but i expected it was brushless.fantastic results and scent..

 

Awesome report, Clint! Sandalwood and oud sounds like a really nice scent profile, and that photo is stunning!

 

Well, after all. both are wood.....just different kinds of it.

thank you Clint.week is ok so far as work goes..weather is changing though ,may see some snow ,which means a day off here and there.i don't drive when its snowing out..too many hills and unprepared drivers here..

I'm slowly getting to the point where if it's snowing on one of my gym days, I stay home and just do some stretches.
