Thanks Tim. After joining this group I not only learned to shave but also bought a lathe and began turning handles .

    Razor: Dovo Inox
    Brush: DSCosmetic Galaxy 26mm Silvertip
    PS: Proraso Red
    SS: MWF
    AS: Proraso Green

I took it prety easy this morning. It's a chore day and I didn't shower yet. Opted for just a 2 pass shave. WTG went as it always does, easy with good stubble reduction. WTG I always just try to get all the lather off my face and amazingly much of the stubble comes with it.

XTG is something I added about 4 or 5 SR shaves ago. I go ear to nose. I'm able to do this now even just below my jawline. Then I just go very light ATG on my neck with some diagonal between ATG and XTG where I can. Honestly my XTG pass now is almost as close as my ATG pass was a few months ago, angle, presure, and stretching.

I did nick myself right under my nose. One of those slips that bleeds about 10 to 20 seconds later. I'm still calling it a DFS.

    More fun with PS filters.

I catch a lot of flak for using Axe, but my wife likes it. She knows I am less of a fan so she makes sure she shows me extra attention when I wear it. Lets just say, she gets what she wants. ;)

Yep, I joined in September, so this May will be my first Mayhem. I went back through previous years and there isn't much you can do to impress this crowd.

I've got two ideas. 1) make my own blade and/or 2) shave for the whole month with one SE blade in my Autostrop. This will require me to make a strop, but I already have the leather so that shouldn't be too hard.

Both would be cool. I don't think anyone would fault me if I shaved 30 days on 1 SE blade and once on a homemade blade.

Honestly, I don't remember what it smelled like, and 15 boys spraying a variety of Axe scents would be an inaccurate representation anyhow. My only beef with it was not Axe's fault, but the boys': when a scent is applied so heavily that it becomes a pestilent cloud of vapor, you've killed any potential joy that scent could bring.

I fully get where you're coming from, though. If the Missus told me Windex makes her swoon with desire, I'd buy it by the gallon ;)

    I certainly wouldn't!

Maybe I'll cruise the thrift stores and see if I can find one of those old Epilady gizmos that pluck rather than shave the hair...

    Hiram with 3 dot plate

    SV Manna di Sicilia
    Shave Soap & Aftershave

My new Hiram razor arrived Thursday so I wanted to try it out this weekend. After 2 weeks with the Enoch, I wanted to have more blade feel than I thought the 2 dot plate would provide. Since I have the extra top plates from the OREN I went with the 3 dot plate and a fresh Feather Pro. The Hiram has the same floating head design as the OREN. However, the movement of the blade has been reduced. With a rich slick lather of SV Manna di Sicilia, I went with a traditional 3 pass shave. The 3 dot plate did provide increased blade feel but nothing at all remotely aggressive. When using the OREN, I always felt the need to add pressure but the increased weight of the Hiram makes pressure less of an issue. So how does it shave? It depends on what one is looking for. This razor effortlessly delivered a drama free BBS shave. At no time did I feel I could cut myself. If you are looking for a replacement or a substitute for the Cobra the Hiram is not your razor. I would suggest the Enoch instead. If you tried the OREN and didn't like it I would move on. While the Hiram head has a perceptible different feel, it is only an evolution of the OREN V2 head. The Hiram goes into the group of razors that deliver a near perfect shave with almost no thought or technique. I am more than happy that I used my coupon from the Enoch to get the Hiram for $59. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.

Seeing as we get snow here in Dallas area every 5-6 years (if that)....I thought I'd get today's image before it melts, which is already is on it's way. From start to melt, I give it 5 hours....this image done with my iPhone (actually all of them have been since November), 8 feet out my front door on our sidewalk, background being the acorn laden, unraked Augustine grass lawn, still green, under is a 30 year old live oak tree.

Everything worked decent today, although this Kamisori might need to visit the 12k Shapton again. It did get the usual CrOx linen then leather stropping. I'll give it a go round the pasted strops first though. 3 passes, DFS most everywhere, except a CCS under the nose. 1 tiny chin weeper. Not sure if it was lather or edge, but something was slightly off, as this usually smooth shaving razor was slightly tuggy. Lather was thick and slick, every pass I went back to re-wet the brush tips and face lather. This may have been the difference, as I'm usually bowl lathering. No big deal, still a great shave with a fun razor! Finished off with PAA's Star Jelly ASB, then the matching after shave/cologne Future Fiction.

Scent Profile: Citrus (Lemon, Bergamot & Mandarin Orange), White Musk, Jamaican Ginger, White Pepper, Haitian Vetiver, Hiba Wood, Honey Amber, Black Sage, Peppermint, Jerusalem Pine. My nose gets the musky/pepper/citrus....picking out fragrance notes after that elude me.

Hope everyone is having a Sensational Saturday!
