  1. Well, I have no experience maintaining a copper razor, but Charcoal Good's FAQ says, "After cleaning, apply a coat of Renaissance Wax or similar to protect the finish." I actually asked wondering how well that works.

I wonder if they apply the patina with Liver of Sulfur.
  2. Thanks, Evan. I didn't see that.

So, what happens in St. Louis on a day in January after the previous day was in the 60's and produced a tornado warning? Why, this, of course....

Yep. Welcome to the wide, wide world of weather. Currently 28 degrees and about 2 to 3 inches of the white stuff out there. Never gets dull. A bit of an early shave tonight since I was chased home off of the highways and streets. I switched razors to the Fatip. Definitely a top choice for an aggressive shave, I have the Piccolo version of the Fatip. It also comes as the Grande, with the difference being a larger handle on the Grande. However, the Grande handle is hollow, while the smaller Piccolo is solid brass. That makes the Piccolo the heavier of the two since the head is identical. Great little shave that will bite if not respected, but it does a fine, fine job when shown the proper respect. Three passes with a Voskhod in it and I'm BBS smooth, and the alum is just slightly tingly. No complaints. The JR312 with the synthetic horse knot did a better than fine job with the Soap Commander. No complaints there either.

Not sure what to expect out of the weather tomorrow. Maybe a hurricane. I don't think we've officially had one of those yet. Have a great Sunday!!

  4. fine shave Jim..
  5. Good point, Evan ;)
  6. Great setup, Neal! 72F here today with severe storms. Crazy weather all over the US.
  7. Nice shave Neal! BBS without Alumphobia, good job!
  8. Nice details and shave Paul!

Cool Dovo INOX Evan! Great setup with everything! Awesome details!

Awesome report Clint! Cool everything, love that brush. The OREN head design is quite interesting, quite the shaver, but so platonic with feel while working.

That is a cool shave Dale! LOVE that ER brush and the Gillette Old Type!

  9. Thank you Blair. The OREN head has almost zero blade feel while shaving. It works but I am still not sure how.

  11. Meta Nectar....hmm....now I gotta go back and rethink my PAA order. Jim, you're making me think too hard. Gotta make sure I maximize the loyalty points, and still make it where I can get free shipping......................twice. :happy097: I think I'm going to need that guy who's good with a slide rule....:shocked029:

How'd you know I'm a LOTR fan? I guess I shouldn't mention Bilbo's 'Sting' replica I have (as a letter opener, a fun gift from the girls).

Wow Bill! Epic details on your showdown. I like your explanation of controlling cutting force with extreme light shaving tools. I could never put that idea into words as well. Great everything in your post!

  15. It is good, Blair. You know, the best way to maximize loyalty points and free shipping offers is to keep placing multiple orders that are just above $65. Then you can get maximum loyalty points to apply to the next order and stay in the free shipping zone.

  18. I lived in the deep south long enough that I can do the accent. And I know what sweet tea is and even how to eat greens and grits. You'll need to be prepared to eat lots of St. Louis style ribs, St. Paul sandwiches, Imo's Pizza and buy Provel cheese in blocks.

  19. You guys are killing me. I actually went to the PAA site and looked at stuff. Thankfully I regained my senses and walked away from the computer.
