No way, I love my summer sweater way too much. Although I do worry about being darted by animal control when I take my family swimming, we do get the pool to ourselves when the bear walks out of the changing room.

I have one of those for heating distilled water for plating. It hadn't occured to me to use it for my lather... what have I been missing out on?

Suprised I don't see these blades used more.

    Guard type Artist Club blades.

They shave quite well and last longer than a true edge forward blade.

It is definitely in the less threatening category. Next time I have one up, I'm going use it on some tomatoes to guage how sloppy one has to be to get punished.

Jatai's own chart gives top ratings across the board to only 1 blade, the Pro Guard.

    grande_featherblades.jpg

Kai makes a similar guardtype blade. I preferred the Feather by a little.

There is also a newer Feather Soft Guard blade that I have not tried my samples of yet.

Something to consider. And 'knock off' blade holders are low cost. I went DX because I wanted that head profile in a folder.

Caution...... Don't assume that training with a guarded blade to be a substitute for a true open edge on skin.

It is exactly what Joe said....

I do that do and sometimes I throw in some menthol crystals too.

You have made excellent progress, well done.

You answered my question before I could ask it.

You are getting more snow in the Metroplex than we are getting in Seoul.

Sunday shave a hot lather test: Up today is Stirling Blood on Steel. I tried Haverford and it failed so I wanted to give a different Stirling soap chance. It performed much better than the Haverford, it started airy and very wet but as soon as it hit my face it turned into lather. It retained much of slickness but I was surprised at the result of the shave. I usually have no irritation or just a tickle from the alum, today I had some burn. Not sure it was the razor, or me or the soap. :signs002:

Today's razor was a 8/8 Mike Martinez with heavy grind.

    Sunday morning, wonderful morning.
In the low 40's, clear and calm.
Decided to use a razor I got in the mail yesterday. A Dime razor, a little wire, some wood and a blade. Got out the horse hair brush, Stirling and got to work.
Looking at this contraption, you'd think, some people bought this to shave with??? Well, Yea! I installed a Pesonna GEM blade, removed the spline, it took a little bending of the wire to make the blade stay put, but only a miniute amount. I'm not big on using old steel blades.
The first pass was easy, although it's a very light tool, might be the lightest I've got. You have to keep the razor blade fairly close to the skin for a good shave. It also makes a bit of chattering, but not bad. The 2cd pass was good, about the same. Needed some clean up.
The head shave was more of the same 2 passes and clean up.
This is a mild razor so far, the way it's now. I'm thinking that a small amount of adjustment to the wire frame might make it do better.

Gonna have to look into it.
Not the closest shave, but no issues, none.
If I can get it to be a little more efficient, I'll put it in the rotation.
    All
    Enjoy!

Really neat Terry! I read all about that razor yesterday. Not on the want list, but it is a very cool tool! Fits your den perfect!
