    Osage Rub

This is my first shave with the Ever-Ready and the first shave with Jayaruh #380. My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Virgilio Valobra Shaving Soap face lathered well with Jayaruh #380 Brush. I did two passes and a cleanup with the Ever-Ready 1914 Army razor with a GEM Stainless SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Osage Rub. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

TOBS is awesome. Took me over 3 years to finally buy some and I wish I had bought it from the beginning of the shave hobby.

Whoa. That's about all I have to say about my first shave with Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements' CK-6 base soap (despite the very wintry conditions out I shaved with a soap I acquired with Christmas gift money - the very summery scented Future Fiction). Unbelievable lather today and the closest shave I think I've had in ages. A close shave of course depends on a good lather, blade, and razor - but all three combined today to give me a glassy-smooth shave.

I am certain I loaded too much soap - but with a new soap I would rather err on the side of loading too much than not enough. Loading was really quite easy with this soap - and the lather produced was exquisite, and what I loaded produced an insane amount. It's quite a thirsty soap for a softer variety, but wow is it excellent. Very nice protection and slickness, and the postshave feel after their aftershave splash is second to none - I'll have to do a side by side with Murphy and McNeil's Aon base to see which I think does better, but this one is REALLY outstanding and highly recommended. It's not an inexpensive soap, but given how much lather is produced from what I thought was an average load, it may be more economical than some. The scent is a really complex one of citrus, musk, and pepper, and will be great for late spring and summer.

    Pre-shave: hot towel
    Razor: Fine Accoutrements Marvel
    Blade: Personna Red (#3)
    Brush: Omega Pro 49 Boar
Bowl: Fine Accoutrements Ceramic Lather Bowl
    Soap: PAA Future Fiction
    Aftershave: PAA Future Fiction Splash
