I'm slowly coming to the same conclusion with my Rex. It's not that I can't get a great shave with it, but I laterally have 10 or 15 razors I enjoy more. I'll have to give it a few more shaves and see how I feel.

Apparently, I get a lot more pleasure out of shaving with vintage safety razors.

After reading Tim @timabababaluka post , I knew then and there I had to do something manly. Immediately I grabbed the Clubman and looked around for a razor with some heft. Ahhh, the Rockwell. What else is manly in this pile of gear I asked myself?? Yes yes , right there in front of me was the brush of manly men....the Black Pearl..handcrafted by a manly man with blood , sweat and beers . Then I thought....you need a manly soap, nothing hoity toity but something with a manly name. Well Van der Hagen sounds manly when it rolls off the tongue . Only thing left was a blade....and I have a pile of them in front of me ..some used once , some ready to become part of the mix for a steel girder beam maybe . Ah heck..just be manly and grab one I said . If you're manly enough you can shave with any blade . So thats what I did and when the dust settled , I felt smooth and smelled like a man. Thanks Tim for the inspiration. I'm now heading off to the basement to make some shavings and create a manly brush for the good of mankind. Crisis averted !

If I recall correctly Barrister and Mann Cool is a take on the scent of Floid Blue, a previously popular but now discontinued aftershave.

Great shave report Tim. I am glad you were able to get in touch with your Y chromosome side :D

Perry..let me interrupt this program with a comment.....remember we talked about Alabama basketball a couple years ago? They've already had two nationally televised games this season. Are they getting better than "average"(as I recall your quote)?

I sort of agree with you but I would suggest putting it away and revisiting the razor later own. I absolutely didn't really enjoy my second Wolfman razor with an increased blade gap and much preferred my original Wolfman. I put it aside and revisited it months later to find that I got consistently great shaves and enjoyed the razor.

That's the great thing about this hobby, there's something for everyone. I enjoy my vintage razors but I prefer modern.

We all need a little humor now and again. I think I was a court jester in my past life Clint.

    timabababaluka No exceptions. Except.....

Great shave, Patrick! Love that the first thing you grabbed for your manly shave was Clubman! You are more successful than I was. I chose Aqua Velva because the scents felt like they matched better--matched!

Evidently my Y chromosome was only partially restored ;)

Evan, I agree. I made my last two razor purchases on December 31. This next year will be about thinning the herd. The only adjustables I like are my Gibbs. I prefer non adjustables if given my druthers. I purchased the Colonial General V2 and the H&S No75. That’s it. I suspect i’ll be selling 20 to 30 razors over the course of this next year. I strongly suspect the Rex will be one of them.

Thanks Tim. We will let that slide and focus on the choosing Aqua Velva part. That, in itself was a manly thing to do!

There’s no girly boys here! You’re a man clearly in touch with his testosterone essence! Good for you, Patrick! I bet you’re not even going to use a lathe to construct that manly brush! Just a sharp buck knife, or even better, just your two front incisors!! Yeah, that’s the ticket!

I didn't know you had a H&S NO75. I'm taking my pictures for the week and I was trying to decide which razor to use after the CG. You just picked it out for me.
