Didn't have a whole lot of time for photos, but I was able to squeeze in a quick 2 pass, no touch-up shave:

Frost Drops--after shaving, I added a single drop to my remaining lather, coated my face and kept it on as I cleaned up. Cold water rinse.

No drama, DFS mostly, CCS along chin mostly.

Inspired by how little effort/time it took to get serviceable results yesterday, I figured I could fit in a 3 pass (WTG, XTG left to right, XTG right to left) shave in before work. Probably got overconfident. Small weeper along chin, and something that felt like a pretty decent cut, but no blood or visible mark, right on my upper lip. I can feel it, but can't see it--strange. Moral of the story: lay off on the hubris and slow things down. Still, a pretty decent shave: DFS/CCS, weeper disappeared before rinse, and the one issue that I feel doesn't even appear to be visibly real. Could have been much worse.

Frost Drops--one drop during face wash, and one drop with remaining lather reapplied after the shave. Cold water rinses for both.

Over the summer I noticed that if I was travelling from lower elevations to higher elevations, the cap on my bottle of Baker Street would leak ever so slightly (my dopp kit smells wonderful now, but the oils in the AS actually dissolved/melted a small section of the rim of my collapsible silicone shave bowl. Wish I'd thought about using a soda bottle cap

I've had an experience recently that has convinced me that a scent can change as you use the soap more. Perhaps this is due to some of the EO's and FO's evaporating from the top layer of soap as it cures.

Another attempt this morning trying to dial in the RazoRock Hawk. I find that with the Schick Proline blade this razor is very mild and smooth and has a very narrow sweet spot. Today I focused on maintaining that angle and got a closer shave. Not completely smooth but better. I may have to try this razor with a Feather Super Pro blade to see if it amps it up a bit. Also the Autumn Glory soap is completely gone!

First of all, my apologies for the delayed posting. Every 6 months I have a medical procedure that knocks me out. I shaved early and quickly this morning, but needed to leave for the procedure and didn’t get the chance to post anything after snapping the photo! The shave was good; the LaResche 77 delivered the goods for a decent DFS all around, both face and noggin. Really like this Soap Commander’s Barbershop scent. But I’m exhausted, so will keep it brief. I left feeling clean, smooth and refreshed! Returned home feeling like I was hit by a Mack truck.

RAZOR: LaResche 77
BLADE: Feather
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with PAA’s Preshave Cube Soap
BRUSH: Omega Pro48 Boar
SOAP: Soap Commander Honor
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Thayers Lavender WH and finished with Ogallala Bay Rum/ Sandalwood AS Splash

Took the time for a relaxing 3 passer this morning. Last weekend I grated (a la Joseph) this triple milled puck into a decent sized (from the recently departed Maximo Gomez) container. Much more fun to load from this than from the puny Fine tub and even the label survived the move.
Everything worked as it should, which is a very high standard indeed. I think I’ll get another Fine soap, they really are a favourite.

January 23 SOTD:

Razor: Karve Christopher Bradley
Blade: Polsilver
Brush: PAA Starcraft
Lather: PAA Malbolge
Aftershave: PAA Malbolge

Today's scent is a good reminder to me that sometimes you need to give things a few tries before making up your mind. I never found this scent offensive or anything, but on my first try, this one didn't necessarily wow me either. Today, though, is a different story. On my first use, I couldn't get last the sweetness, but there is so much more to this scent. There is a lovely bergamot on the opening that is definitely paired with the sweetness, and in reality it really balances out nicely. The sweetness is a burnt sugar, almost a caramel type of sweetness, but this moves to the background a bit as some nice tobacco comes out. All the while, there is a woodiness that is getting more prominent and this brings a vanilla scent, just like how a nicely aged bourbon will have some vanilla notes to it. On the dry down, some pepper comes through and that woodiness is ever present, but some patchouli is now coming out. A few hours after application, there is a nice round sweetness to this wonderful mix of woodiness and patchouli. It is actually a much better scent than I initially gave it credit for. Lesson learned: give scents multiple tries before making up my mind. I hope everyone has a great day!

This morning, I closed out my set of Lumberjack soap(The Soap Exchange)and AgadirMen A.S......until next go-round that is. I was real pleased with the shave overall, until the very end, when I felt some stubble on my right cheek was missed. Ahhh, since I'm blond no one sees it anyway. But I'll be sure to scoop it off tomorrow. Other than that, as I say, I was real pleased. My main focus going in was to apply more aftershave than yesterday, which I did. Again, as yesterday , the soap felt better and stronger on the 2nd pass. More brush-shaking is needed before pass 1. Today's adjective-"Almost Excellent".
