Yes... that is 1 source. It is also produced by plants and can be made in a lab. I prefer to think that JoAnna has a non mammalian source. And if not... it is usually from cow... where does the tallow come from? In regards to getting rid of A/S the only thing I have that I don't use is some Nivea stuff I bought on clearance at Walgreens. All the other A/S I don't like was sent off with various items I sold as free samples...

Aaaaarrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhh Ok, so here's my situation... I'm out of town for the week... about 1 1/2 to 3 hours from home throughout the trip. Won't be back until next Saturday. Roving through the mental checklist on my way up--- what did I forget? Hmmm... tube of C.O. Bigelow -- check puck of UAASCSC -- check bottle of UAAMM -- check cologne -- check tube of apricot scrub -- check tube of shave shave gel for the headshaving -- check spare blades -- check razor -- oh crap, oh crap, oh crap, oh crap, d*mmit! Ok, so here's the question: Do I take an any-port-in-a-storm approach and go buy a pack of bic (hopefully they have bic metals here)? Do I do the blade shuffle and borrow my wife's lady gillette, swapping the blade out every night and replacing it with her's when I'm done? Or do I make like a sixties free-love freak and just "let it grow"? I do plan on checking the local flea outlets and seeing if I can scrounge up a $5 beauty... but I'm not too hopeful.
Weren't you going to do that anyway? Last time I forgot a proper razor and was staying at Mom's place, I just borrowed one of her boyfriend's disposable multi-blade jobbers. With DE technique and proper soap, it didn't do a bad job.
That's neither here nor there. I'm really just thinking about picking up some bic throwaways... they've worked pretty well for me in the past. I just hate it that I forgot my razor.
I really like Allantoin. Doesn't matter much where it comes from - it's very good stuff. I just thought the Wikipedia definition was amusing. Heck, I eat Rocky Mountain Oysters (yumm!) and I take who knows what in the zillion pills I have to pop every day. A little bit of mammalian diuresis byproduct isn't going to do me any harm. :happy102 And actually, the only AS I've given to my son has been some Adidas musk that he liked. I really need to turn him on to the good stuff. Of course, I'd have to get him to shave first. :angry019 I actually gave a 3/4 full tub of JoAnna's Signature Scent SC (my favorite so far) to one of my friends that I recently converted to DE shaving. He was at my place in Spokane last weekend and was checking out my badger brush (he's got a VDH boar that I gave to him along with a Slim Adjustable, some Proraso and some blades). He mentioned that he was out of the Proraso so I gave him my tub of TSD SC - it was sitting right there and it's all I had. I'm glad he got it, but now I need some more =0) I did tell him where it came from and he said "Oh yeah, I've checked out the store there - they have lots of great looking stuff at good prices". I'd go for the Lady Gillette until I found something in an antique mall. It'll give you a GREAT excuse to hit every shop you come across!
Wife's razor would be my best bet. Although I would go scrounging to find something at the flea market anyway. But then I would have to find something to thoroughly clean it and sterilize it... But in a pinch a campfire boil on a tech and some rubbing alcohol would do... Hmmm... I doubt you are camping.. but it could be sterilized on the go...
I figure a can of scrubbing bubbles and some alcohol would do it, but like I said, I'm not sure I'll be able to find one. The problem with using TWGW's razor is that she's using it... I'd have to juggle the blades every time I wanted to shave...

I'm actually considering just letting it all grow. I've been shaving my head for a couple of years now, I'm almost afraid to let it grow out, though. I might be bald!

Yeah, there is a walmart nearby, so a headblade might actually be attainable... but I hate to plunk down $13 for a razor I already own. I've actually gotten pretty good at shaving the ol' bean with a DE... so I guess I could use the wife's for that, but still, I'd be juggling blades! That'd make 3 blades I'd have to keep seperated. I'm really thinking I'll just grab a pack of bics. They should be fine for a week, especially if I only shave every other day.
