Great report and shave, Terry. When I first got into SE shaving, I looked into the Starling. It's a fantastic looking razor, and rather unique. Is yours a V1 or V2?

SOTD 01/25/20

Woke up to a torrential downpour on this Saturday morning. I was all set for another excellent shave with this razor. I’m thinking, that I’ll be trying some other blades in the razor over the next few shaves after completing this shave. Unbeknownst to me, the Feather blade I employed today ended up irritating the back of my head as the alum block and my AS Splash revealed. The fault is mine and not the razor. I have to restrain my eagerness to chase the BBS until my head is completely healed from the Rex encounter. Foolish me irritated the three healing areas by thinking my healing powers were more robust than they actually are! 72 ain’t 25! Besides, my birthday shave is coming up on 2/4. In any case my beloved Fat again delivered the goods for a two pass DFS on my face and a tender CCS on the noggin! The Snake Bite finish let me know that I’ve still a ways to go to completely heal the back of the noggin! I’m going to go without shaving the gourd for a few days to facilitate the healing. I figure by Tuesday, all should be well! In the meantime I’ll be sticking to face shaves until then! Happy shaves to all!

I work up a little early this morning. After coming out to the den and playing on the phone for a few minutes, I dozed back off picking up another couple of hours of much needed rest. The WSP Ol' Kentucky fit in with the cool overcast morning her in Hotlanta. The scent is pure Kentucky with a rich note of bourbon over oak. The blending almost has a vanilla quality which I pick up in some bourbons. I washed, shampooed and palm lathered the new ŌKU brush several times yesterday. Beside the faintest lingering hint of badger funk, the Botiho was a joy to use face lathering. The brush has a better than average backbone with very soft tips. Three passes and touch ups ended with the baby in hand. A splash of Small Batch Shave Tonic kept the Kentucky theme going. I hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday.

Wow! I have to say that I am very surprised at the results. I'm glad that the Parker has turned out so well for you. When you mentioned yesterday that you could see some glaring differences between the two, I thought that was a death knell for the Parker.

The few shavette shaves I've had were with an exposed toe that gave me some superficial, but long, slices. If I decide to pick up a similarly designed shavette, I may opt to dull/round that toe-side of the blade down a bit first to see if that takes some of the bite off.

Thanks, Tim! I believe that newbies should get shavettes that prevent toe jabs, slices, etc. because it is one less thing to worry about while learning to open blade shave. Fortunately, my experience kicked in so that it was easy for me to shave with the Parker. When you decide to shave with a shavette either with an open or closed toe, please use short deliberate strokes and land the razor gently on your face. Use the lightest touch possible so that the razor effortlessly glides across your skin. Don't forget to stretch, while shaving.
