Broke out this Geo Korn today. I hadn’t used it in a very long time as it just wasn’t shaving well. I decided to do 10 laps on some green paste on felt. Bingo, really enjoyable shave. So, was it the quick treatment on paste or the fact that I only had one day of growth vs. my usual 2 or 3 days? Thanks Somnos, at first I found the Valet auto strop very aggressive and it needed some taming so I closed the gap up and has become more enjoyable to shave with. Auto Strop used a very malleable brass so tweaking the open comb teeth was reasonably easy.
Leather, leather...LEATHER! I do believe that there is no more manly a scent than leather except of course motor oil and Hoppe’s No. 9! Today I decided to grab the stuff I picked up recently. The Colonial General has been well documented but the other goodies have sat waiting. The razor today the Gillette Rocket HD 500 so good and so smooth a shaver. Fresh Personna Platinum loaded. Artisan Soaps Leather is so good a scent! More than that! It is a great soap! So good all around! The Simpson Special has no issues working it up to a phenomenal lather. Beautiful two pass BBS shave! Topped it off with some English Leather AS and Guerlain Derby...man, I love leather and so does Mrs S! Happy Saturday! Yeah, originally, when trying to figure a shave that could go with it I was just starting my testing with Pinaud splashes and glass bottles. So, it naturally occurred to me since the case was brown that a perfect aesthetic for it would be the Special Reserve Splash, wood lather bowl and Groom Room Malt & Myrtle shave soap. It was so obvious that it fell together as a set immediately. It basically assembled itself like it was meant to be. That wood bowl is one of the most honest and coolest pieces in my entire den. It may seem humble but strikes anyone as a naturally beautiful piece.
Hey Jim. It's a pretty awesome razor TBH especially with the ability to swap out the baseplates. I'm trying the open comb tonight and I'll post my thoughts. The smoothness and comfort reminds me of a Razorock Baby Smooth but MUCH better efficiency and a different shaving angle of course - but the feel is similar. You can also watch the video with automated English translated subtitles. It'll provide some added information... Some of it makes no sense at all . 100% Stainless Steel and breaks down to all of its components in no time = Awesomeness. They must be doing something right... They sold out of their initial run. I only have three modern razors, Rockwell 6C, Ikon El Jefe and a Future clone. If this is still available when I'm ready, it'll be my fourth. It's a very interesting razor.
