I have a whole page of them! I was Master of Ceremony two years ago...shockingly, they haven't asked me to do it since.:signs089:
Ironically, Scots are fine with 'cheap' jokes, especially if they involve the English. Sheep jokes are where it gets dicey. 2 years ago I ended the evening with- 'How do you know Mick Jagger was English? If he was Scottish, the song would have been called "Hey McCloud, get off of my Ewe". Sigh, somehow I haven't been asked to MC again...

Getting back to shaving briefly, I'm now toying with buying the 4 oz. size of a Bill Neumann soap. I figure it takes me a long time to finish even a 4 oz.soap anyway, thus it'll be around for a long time just the same. I save 10$$$ but lose 4 oz. Might work.

Rough day. Our friends requested steamed shrimp. Now we gotta figure out what to do with 6 lbs. of them. At least I managed to get a good shave in this morning with my focus gear. Hope you guys are having a great weekend. We'll manage somehow.

There’s another shave soon Paul, here’s hoping it goes much better!

Great setup and shave Joe. Awesome details and report between the two shavettes!

Juicy Fruit shave! Loves me some PAA PBR. The PBR dry down for my nose still stays ever so slightly sweet. Somewhat like Ogalllala BR, minus the clove. Great image and report Jim!

    Great shave and report Jim!

Very nice report and image Jeff!

Super image again Clint. Love the combo today!

Thanks guys. We had a fun day today. The weather was in the 60s and sunny....more than acceptable for January. One of the locals tipped us off on a fresh seafood house, so we paid a visit today. I think this will become one of our regular hangouts.

Thank you, Paul. If we ever have the opportunity to meet in person, you'll get hugs from both of us. Her hugs are better than mine, though. :) I'm so glad Kathy is enjoying herself. We're getting prepared for a difficult period when she goes through her treatments at Mayo. She's been able to use the past few weeks to take her mind off what's coming up. We met these friends at our church about 20 years ago. We road tripped with them this past summer to a Blues and BBQ festival in Western Kentucky, and we invited them to join us for a few days in Florida. We're already kicking around ideas for our next trip together. We're considering an overseas trip to tour the places where the Apostle Paul traveled on his missionary journeys.

Thats true. No imposters accepted amongst the Scots . Hope you do well tonight and they raise lots of money for competitions.

Um. Sadly that hasn't been the case here .

    Straight Razor (or similar) Saturday

    Razor: Feather DX
    Blade: Feather DX Super Pro
    Brush: Simpson X3 Best Badger
    SS: Deep Blue Sea
    AS: AV Blue Ice

I decided to take the Feather for a spin instead of one of my Dovos. I got a close 2.5 pass shave but I nicked myself again. Again the lack of feedback is throwing me off. I'll figure it out.

Surprisingly my wife liked the AV Blue Ice. It was available at the supermarket for $3.50 so I figured I'd try it. Not bad.

I didn't use the brush in this photo for my shave. When I shaved this brush was still bar stock.

I had to fix my lathe before starting this adventure. The emergency shutoff was broken. Strangly it still ran but shutting it down required turning the controll knob to off. Experience tells me that's hard when sparks start flying.

I think it turned out pretty good for a first attempt. I want to make something a little more ornate, but for now I'm just happy I got the knurling to look as good as it does. Need to try some razor handles as well.

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned, either with shavettes or straights, it is possible to carefully maneuver the blade landing such that the leading edge/tip doesn’t touch skin first. I slightly change the angle of either the razor or my skin surface (using air in the cheeks, skin stretch, or minute change of head position, or all 3), so that the landing is ever so little behind the tip. You can then use the same ‘controls’ (or a small pressure addition) to use the tip of the blade to shave. This technique is now almost muscle memory for me, even using different combinations to which razor is in my hand. So far, not as many gotchas anymore (note that I’m currently knocking on wood, so I don’t get jinxed).

Really nice Jason! Love PAA’s Et Tu. Enjoy your evening, you’ll be great!

Awesome fun Charlie. As a die hard Cajun implanted in Texas, the only product in your image y’all should consider is the Zatarain’s. Might want to start at 2/3 potency though....spicy for the uninitiated.

Blair, thanks for the heads up regarding Zatarain's. :)
