I am humbled you feel that way! My mother's side came from a small town in Messina, Sicily and my dad's family came from Naples. So, if your mom's family came from these general areas, it's a possibility that we are related by a common ancester from centuries ago.

Looks like two real nice menthol shaves, Tom! Like that Polar Ice AS. It even looks cold! The Permafrost from Monday looks appealing! Couldn't make out the maker. Is it still available or unobtainium?

My mother's family was Tuscan. They hailed from the Saratoga Springs of Italy, Montecatini.

Nothing else matters! Bulova is a great brand! Never go wrong with one. I used to collect Bulova Accutrons, but sold my collection years ago.

When I planned to do a 2 pass shave with light touch ups around the corners of my mouth and lips, I intended that to be WTG, then XTG. But in order to chase smoothness, I loopholed and said, "Why not go WTG, then ATG? It's still two passes." The results were that I tried to take too much off at a time, and got a slight weeper on the left corner of my mouth, and another, beefier, one on the right corner of my mouth that required a styptic. Tomorrow, no funny business: 1 WTG, 1 XTG, very light touch up around mouth--end of story. As it was, I ended up with a DFS and lesson: don't get cute with the parameters you set.

    As for the shave:
    • Razor--Gillette Flare Tip w/Personna blade (3)
    • Soap--Texas on Fire
    • Frost Drops (one drop per pass)
    • Brush--Kong
    • AS--AV Ice Blue
    • Balm--Glacial Unscented

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of this terrific Tuesday! :)

Great shave, Blair! I'm hoping that I'll be able to report great shaves with the Rex when I get mine back from Razor Emporium. Really like the way so many of you have such sophisticated scent discrimination. I'm a nasal barbarian who wouldn't know sophisticated scents from Shinola! I do know I like Old Spice, AV, Sandalwood, Royall Lyme, Florida Water and Bay Rum scents. I can only wear them when SWMBO's not around. So I'm currently happily enjoying my low to no scent MWF. The soap scents I enjoy are lavender, Oud, and Barbershop. Like I said, I'm a nasal barbarian.

Well, that's 240 miles as the crow flies! The odds of people traveling that distance many centuries ago was nil, so the odds of a common ancestor would be infinitesimal. No matter, I have stronger bonds with my friends, than some of my relatives.

Great shave report, Tim! Live and learn, my friend! We all have stumbled in this hobby, that's most of the fun, at least for me! Enjoy your shaves.

My Dad always bought Bulova too. He said no jewelers in town will look at a Timex . I called the shops here last week as i was looking at a 1970 Sprite and they said " dont bring it here ".

Nice shave, Tim! When you go ATG in that area, you need to really use a light touch there.

Beautiful pic, as usual, Joseph! I am also on that list, and don't expect to hear for some time. I'll worry about whether I want the razor when I hear.
