I am playing The Sims 2 right now. :D

    Ah. I remembered incorrectificationly.

I see you'd like a peppermint aftershave. I've got JoAnna's SubZero I can send you a sample of, but it has menthol and is a mint blend. Let me know if that's okay with you.

Go lion in my bag! Eat those kids! Eat 'em good.

Just thought I'd update all yous in here....the deal for 23 Engine fell through - the guy who's spot I was going to take decided not to leave. Today I put in a transfer to 1 Truck, 5 Truck, and 26 Truck, so hopefully in the next several months (probably..proabably October (have to wait for a few 90 day terminal leaves to finish)) I'll be back to living up to my online namesake - a truck man. :D

    Netbook just died. :(

I think the motherboard is fried.

You're very welcome, Ray. CADE will go out tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that, Matt. Good luck with those transfers.

    good luck Matt.

Crap Dom, the sale will end soon. But I would rather try the sample first. Or should I buy it while it is half off? argh.

    Hi Pam.

If you can manage waiting a few months, they'll have another sale, Ray.

The splash is usually on sale, so I wouldn't worry. This is the best price I've seen on it in recent years, though. I bought mine when it was on sale for 21.

HP tech support for the win! Yay!

I love how they assume everyone is an idiot.

Unfortunately they have too...because some people are and they don't come with signs.

As a former Tech Support and Help Desk drone, I can safely say, without a shadow of a doubt, that most of the people who call are idiots.

    Corey, Brahm.

True. Most people that call in are idiots.

It just gets to me a little when I do all my troubleshooting before calling, tell the guy exactly what I did, what was wrong, what wasn't and was working, yet still get the idiot treatment. I guess they do have to make sure there's something wrong before setting up a repair. I've dealt a lot with ASUS notebook support and find them to be fantastic and very obliging. It doesn't help that this is the second time I've had a fried motherboard in this netbook.

Sorry if I'm ranting. I've had a rough day.

My wife worked in tech support too. But some of the people in tech support are idiots too. (Please don't take that the wrong way Corey)

The other side of it is that a lot of call center people are untrained idiots too. At both tech support jobs we had a loose script that we were supposed to follow and a computerized database of problems that listed the same idiotic step by step methods to resolving the problem. Part of it is to make sure that you've covered the most common, easily solved problems before escalating the problem up to the next tier. You'd be surprised how many people don't bother with the basics, like checking for loose connections and unplugged wires, or just doing a simple reset. That tends to solve a good chunk of the calls coming in, but the idiots who they hire on don't know how to think for themselves and are completely dependent on the screen prompts.

Don't forget about the urban legend about the person who couldn't get the computer to turn on in a power outage. My wife did get a couple of calls like that...although she didn't tell them to box their computer up because they were too dumb to use it. She has much better people skills then I do.

No offense taken. I worked with many idiots. :D Tech support is one of those jobs that nobody really wants to do and has a high turn over, so you end up with morons who can barely tie their own shoes trying to fix slightly more complex electronic devices with no actual experience using the product. I did tech support for the Xbox360 when it was released, and it never made sense to me that they would hire on people who had absolutely zero experience playing any video game consoles. How can you comprehend a problem and quickly find a solution without understanding what the product actually does?
