It's occurred to me that I need to explain to you guys about this "Lazy Susan" I've been referring to in recent posts. That will be one of my Files this Friday.

    Great shave Keith!

As I skimmed over your post, for some reason I saw Tom White, and thought you were continuing the Tim-White crayon joke. You do need to catch up. ;)

I came right back with the Gillette Foamy/Clubman Reserve Whiskey Woods combo this morning. I did what I felt I had to do to improve it from yesterday-apply more of the aftershave. Well, that was fine, but I noticed post-shave that I left a porcupine of whiskers on the right side. What is it about my ride side as it pertains to shaving. Anyway, I was so upset that I just pulled out the razor and knocked'em off with just that....no additional foam, no additional wetting the area. It worked! This egregious error simply can't happen again. Solid shave overall besides the porcupine on the right. I'll give myself a grade of very excellent that I had the presence of mind to get right back into the bathroom to finish what I missed. The overall shave itself? Pretty excellent for sophisticated goo. I helped soften the foam by holding it under the hot tap for a bit.

Good morning, Paul, from Kentucky...via Florida. Is the Lazy Susan replacing the need to shake your aftershave? :)

Aaaaaaaah, you'll get the whole story on Friday. I had to smile at the little boy with blond hair at the beginning of your cartoon segment-here's a hint: The LS came into my life when I looked like the boy. You're back in KY now, eh?

Very nice, Keith! Now that's some hot lather when the brush gets too hot to hold!
That's some winter wonderland shaving! Beautiful, Doug!

Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - PS - Tube 2.0, ASB - Star Jelly
    Barrister's Reserve Lavender SS
    Zenith 2 band badger
    Pumu 6/8 'Special' 89
Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements AS/C - Lavender Planet

Used hot scuttle today, 180 degrees both inside & the bowl to see how Barrister's Reserve Lavender reacted. Everything soaks for a few minutes as I shower, off to shaving, dump the bowl. In the scuttle, brush loads well, ~tablespoon of warm water and a thin lather is created. Whip a little more, add more water....still thin, transfer over to the face, lather is slick, turns slightly thicker, still needs more water, but it's good enough to make a pass. Back to the scuttle...and the lather was......gone. Like mostly soap residue in the bowl, gone. Add some warm water back to the bowl, go for a second lather, still plenty in the brush. Works fine, go for the 2nd pass. Same face feel, slick but have to hydrate it, again while face lathering. Shaving....Puma is a nice German Solingen blade, full hollow grind, smooth sharp shaver. Back to the scuttle bowl for 3rd pass....and, no lather again. Lather evaporates. Basically have to rehydrate the lather in between passes when the scuttle is this warm. Weird. I'll try again with this soap, see if I can 'over hydrate' next time, maybe create a soapy slurry in the scuttle. Didn't detract from getting a nice DFS+ though, just an interesting outcome. One difference may be that Barrister's Reserve is a very dry, almost milled consistency and appearance soap. The other's I've used with the hot scuttle are not quite this dry, a couple being more of a cream/croap consistency. Finished with PAA's Star Jelly, and PAA's Lavender Planet Aftershave & Cologne. I have the Barrister's Reserve Lavender matching AS....and while it's a great aroma, it has nearly no longevity for me, even with a hefty morning dose. Lavender Planet is a very close match, but much better in the potency department, as well as face feel after the shave. PAA's is a combination of 6 different Lavender oils, not just 1 or 2. If you are a Lavender fan, this is a nice 'manly' version (to my nose), no slightly off center 'old lady' smell, nor much powder/sweetness. Wifey and family approved also.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday!

You watch enablers.....some nice acquisitions! Following along and resisting.....used to be a watch fanatic, recently switched to a smart watch (and now just change the watch faces or bands all the time).

Very nice setup and shave Patrick! Good luck on the rule!

Good report. I think Lavender was originally meant as a manly scent. Then the "old lady" scent followed, or joined I should say.
