You won't be disappointed, Charlie. I haven't had a successful "enabling" in a while...:)

After almost an entire month with SE razors, I decided to change pace. The Tatara Masamune and Botiho brush are a great pairing. The Masamune razor is on the mild side with a narrow sweet spot. If I do my part the shaves are smooth and efficient. Three passes and touch ups ended up in a wonderful BBS shave. A splash of Cubebe AS and I am off to fight Atlanta traffic. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

Quite an interesting time at the moment. First, as alluded to yesterday, I have a beastly cold. Sucks, but it'll run its course. Next, last night as the dishwasher was running I turned on the hot water to hand wash another dish. No hot water. Pretty odd as the dishwasher shouldn't empty the hot water heater. Downstairs to investigate and the pilot light is out. About 10 attempts to relight were unsuccessful. So we have a repair guy scheduled for today at some point. Ergo, no hot water for a shower this morning. Yikes. Nothing like a cold shower when you're stopped up and achy. Briefest shower I can remember.

At least I always shave with cold water, so that wasn't a problem. The shave was just fine, but I did yet another one pass with clean-up on the chin and jaw. Wasn't interested in much more than that.

Felce Aromatica is a wonderful scent. The splash, however, is strange, despite its fabulous scent. It has a gel-like texture that looks like it would be nourishing and hydrating, but it dries out my skin the worst of any splash I own. I need to get some glycerin and add it in. A little Stirling balm to the rescue and I'm hobbling along the best I can.

As @david of central florida says - hope y'all did as well or better. ;)

Jim, is that the first semi-negative you've had about any of your PAA selections? Wonderful photo!

Nice shave, Tom! I had some Arko Cool cream a while back and thought it worked really well. It's cheap.

Real good shave this morning with Weekend Rodeo from Central Texas Soaps. Everything went well...clobbered the porcupines that like to hang around my right cheek, great neck work, easy loading with the Stoylin Pro-Handle. No cuts. 2 nice passes. Perhaps a little too much aftershave applied, so I'll go easier tomorrow. Too much does give it that "stuck like glue" feeling. It's died down to normal now, about an hour after the shave. I'll give it a Bordering On Most Excellent, only because of the excessive aftershave amount.

For the survey, I project Cookies&Ice Cream as the winner. The lead is safe enough.

    Tanifuji 5/8 Maxfli Gold
Art of Shaving SC - Oud
Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements ASB - Star Jelly
Art of Shaving Cologne Intense - Oud Suede

Easy shave this morning, 3 passes, WTG, then both directions of an X pass rounded out with DFS+ results. Wonderful rich fragrant lather from AoS Oud shave cream and the 2 band badger. Finished off the shave with a light application of PAA's Star Jelly, then AoS's Oud Suede. Oud Suede....a smooth, very complex woodsy aroma, using oud & cedar, with a hints of patchouli, vetiver, lavender and citrus. A highly rated wifey approved fragrance.

Love the aroma for both the SC and Cologne, but this particular shave cream is one of the worst in my den with residue left over on the tools. Hot water rinse (~125 degrees for our tap) for both the razor and brush....and I had 2-3 minutes of clean up on each for the image this morning. I know, FWP, just don't expect that with a (supposedly) high end product from AoS.

Hope everyone has a Terrific Thursday!

At least the water heater didn't explode. I've had that happen a few times.

Apologies for not posting yesterday’s shave, but old man issues intervened, and I instead ended up with a long ride on my back to UPenn Emergency. After a day of being poked, prodded, chided about cigars, single malt scotch, eating habits, and whatever else the children in white coats felt I needed a lecture about, I’m back! Since it was late when they finally gave up and released me, I spent the night in my 51st floor condo perch with its great view. I’ve include a night and morning shot with the shave pic.

I woke up to a beautiful, sunny day for my shave, and one of my favorite razors kindly brought to me by SWMBO. My Colonial Silversmith delivered its usual masterpiece shave. This razor is simply incredible! Equipped with a Feather or in this case a Wizamet Super Iridium blade, has no peer in whisker reductions in my collection. Mike’s Hungarian Lavender provided a thick protective cushion for what felt like an empty razor until a quick check with my right hand confirmed its inaudible, highly efficient sweeping away of my whiskers. The result was a two pass (WTG, ATG) BBS of both my healed dome and face.
I feel coool, smoooth, clean and refreshed!

    RAZOR: Colonial Silversmith
    BLADE: Wizamet Super Iridium
    PREP: Cold water rinse
    BRUSH: WCS Best Badger
    SOAP: Mike’s Hungarian Lavender
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Thayers Lavender WH and finished with Fine Accoutrements Snake Bite AS Splash

Tough start to the day, Perry. Beautiful picture though!

Sounds like a bad thermocouple on the hot water heater. Inexpensive and pretty straightforward fix.
    Thanks!
I've mentioned a few clunkers but the vast majority are keepers.
