He’s a good dog, but does tend, like all in his breed to be a bit stubborn. His problem is that he has a Rottweiler Complex! He is convinced that he is much more formidable than 10 lbs of dog can ever be!

Same hardware setup but used Proraso balm and witch hazel this time. Evertime I look at that " ring of death " I want to cry ....so I fixed it. Good for 25 more shaves now . Don't know which I'll finish first, the book or the soap! 20200130_200845.jpg 20200130_203526.jpg 20200130_203511.jpg

I spent a little time tonight cleaning up my super speed with a toothbrush and some dish soap. went pretty gentle with the scrubbing of course. I have to say it still has it's beautiful mirrored shine on the head even after all these years. And the butterfly twist opens like it is brand new. Goes to show how much quality and time they put into designing and making their razors back in the day. It's a shame things aren't made with quality anymore like they used to. for this to be almost 70 years old, it looks better than other DE razors of today.

Great shave, Patrick! I haven't had experience with either, but from what I hear from trusted sources you can't go wrong with either the soap or the book ;)

Gee, Myles, you almost sound like a guy my age! ‘They just don’t build ‘em like they used to!’ ;) Maybe you’ve been hanging out with us baby boomers too much!:D

Thanks Keith. Both watches have limitations, in my opinion. If I was buying for myself, I'd look for tool watch with a 40 or 42 mm case, drilled lugs, sapphire crystal with AR coating, screw down crown, great lume, easy read dial, and an 8 beat per second movement. The higher beat movement provides a smoother second hand sweep...similar to what you have on your MKII Nassau. I bet I could find something with most, if not all, these features at this price point.

I don't consider resale potential of watches as a benefit, as I figure I'm buying a watch to enjoy and use. The MKII should hold its value better than the Hammy, but the truth is that most watches are not great investments.

I do the same thing, Patrick. Scoop out the ring of death and press it into the middle.

The Gillette super speeds are a bit mild for me. But they are built well.
Out of the few I have here, none have any problems. Well other than wear marks...
    nice razors!

So sorry to hear you’re under the weather! I hope you’re soon on the way to recovery. I hear Bay Rum and viruses are incompatible! Let’s hope! I’ve missed your posts! I look forward to more tales of ‘Razor McGyver’. Feel better, my friend!

Very nice Gary! Love the color separations.

    Great traveling setup Joseph! Proraso....mmmm.

Love that brush and warm toned image Jason! Glad you were able to muster through the lather issue, I completely get keeping it for the scent, but accepting the lather at what it is....got a few of those!

Great report and thoughts Tim. Nice hardware for the shave! I've run into similar issues with some after shaves from artisans....just keep notes and then avoid either the ingredients (or the artisan).

2-3 minutes of cleaning is not my norm....maybe 20-30 seconds. Today's was a first with the level of residue...should have gotten an image of it. I will admit to a little too much time spent for posing/lighting the hardware though!

Wow....almost mirrored minds. PAA Sandalwood Science (just whiffing the bottle) is almost too much Sandalwood for me, but the dry down is great, gets a little powder. Never tried the original PAA Sandalwood, but the WSP was too much for me as well (skin reaction too)!

Eh, I've leaned a lot about thing's like that, ever since I started to find History based around WW2 interesting (did a lot of studying, it just sucks because schools leave so much out about ww2 in the classroom, I have to say I learned a lot more out side of the classroom) and then from there I started to appreciate other things from that time and later on. In a way they all connect because things were made with quality, people were nicer, music was better, etc.. I guess my friend's think I'm "different" because I seem to gravitate towards older/vintage things but at the same time I believe they think it is kinda cool. Just based off of the things I have told them

yea, I have the feeling they were made for guys that don't have a whole lotta facial hair growth, I'm sure they best suited guy's my age (teenagers) than anything back in the day
