Sweet fancy Moses! I made it to a junque shop in Poteau Oklahoma... they had one of the prettiest News I've ever seen... cleaned up and polished to near perfection... in a case... with 3 blue blades in a box.

Okay, don't disown me--- I'm strapped for cash, so I passed on this $25 beauty... as I also passed on the 2 fatboys (actually labeled "fatboy" so this guy knew what he had) for $18 a piece--- beautiful--- they were so clean they looked like NOS. I also passed on the $20 3-piece-in-the-box that looked so new, you might swear it was replated!

This guy had some georgious razors--- isn't that always the way, strapped for cash and you find the motherlode?

Anyway--- lady behind the counter and I get into a conversation about the razors--- she says she's had a glut of collectors in there looking for straights lately...

So, any TSDers in the Poteau OK area?

Anyway, I'm lamenting my weeks misadventures with a pack of bic disposables, and admiring the handiwork on the restoration of the the razors when she says, "I've got a couple up here that haven't been cleaned yet, if you want to look at them."

"Sure, I'll take a look. What're you asking?"

"I dunno, what'll you give me?"

"Hmmm... C1 TTO... and a 1970 something black handled aluminum TTO... Back home these are going for about 6 to 7... take 5 for the silver one?"

"Deal."

I got it "home" and hit it with an old toothbrush and a can of scrubbin' bubbles...

Slap my knees and call me "The Kevin Bacon of Wetshaving", but that thing looks like a million bucks!

Fast forward to later last night---

There were almost tears of joy in my eyes when I shaved with this sensuos beast.

A couple of things I've learned from this experience:

1. Triple check that you packed your razor.
2. Appreciate every shave you have with a quality razor, you never know when you'll fail at #1.

 

I do my best. Too bad they weren't open.

Coincedentally, I picked up a bottle of Pinaud's Lime Sec for 3 bucks.

That stuff is great.

Should I try using it as an aftershave?

Sorry, I'm not suffering from that condition presently, but that's how it always works out... and when I said "nitol" I couldn't help but...

ah nevermind. Now I've totally killed the joke by explaining it.

They're still extraordinary, Micah! I almost posted a comment saying they'd look better if one was slightly blurry, but just couldn't bring myself to do so. I didn't look at all of the artwork there, but yours was by far the best I saw.

okay, so you found the motherlode and you were strapped for cash. So far I'm with you. But you didn't go out to the alley and start hawking your internal organs for cash so you could buy the beautiful, beautiful razors. We're gonna have to kick you out of The Spent Dollar club since you violated just about every rule and principle in this one visit. :happy102

Seriously, congrats on successfully passing on those razors. I would have been tempted to use a credit card or visit an atm. And nice score for five bucks!

that is pretty neat. the article doesn't say if they're functional or if they're just artistic think pieces. I kinda like the coffee table idea, although I'm sure it would stink.
