Took the Cool to the bowl early this morning. I pressed a ridiculous amount of product into the bottom and was rewarded with a ridiculous amount of quality lather. The soap used to take a very small amount to be lathered, lest you end up with a stringy, thick pile that needed to be saturated. Not any more. It takes a ton of product now, but does produce a fine lather still. Weird. Still very functional, though. Everything else worked as it should and I was rewarded with a very nice 3 pass'er. I think this scalloped plate is my favourite of the 3, but the full safety bar plate is pretty darn smooth as well.
I enjoyed the Jeeves January focus, where I used a Jeeves soap or splash for a majority of the shaves. Played around with this Cool this past week as well. Razor use saw a run with my newest tools- the Occam's and the Floating Head, with a sprinkling of the Schick '66' Injector and a few NEWs as well. The highlights though, as always, were the interactions with the fine folks on the thread and the awesome conversations, both shaving-related and not. Looking forward to Favourites February.
Oh, and @wristwatchb -in case you missed it- another month CT free...
    Have a great day all!

  5. Good morning all, feeling slightly better.

Never having the time to use a shaving cream, having some time today, so....
Digging into the back of the shaving shelf, the Taylor of Old Bond Street "Sandalwood" would fit the bill.
A proper razor is also needed for such a treet, a sharp blade too.
Now a chore like this in my water needs a brush that's up to the task and a proper flask or vessel.

A Fatboy on 9, matched with a new feather blade.
My Andrew brush, with one of my old spice mugs.
Some Stirling after goo to slother on, after the job.
Not showering just before hand, I lathered up and cleaned my face and head with the TOBS, then rince.
    This seems to work well.
2 passes head and face only issue was a small bump on the head that is nothing more than a memory. Surprised I haven't got more bumps while taking so many meds trying to heal.
I had plenty lather for the job, so much that what is pictured is the left over, nice! Love the brush!
Guess instead of a nickel's worth, I'll use a penny less next time.

I'm clean, smooth ane ready to, uh, take it easy and get better.

    All
    Enjoy!

  7. Congrats on the Enoch! It's a great razor!

Nice shave Joe! Have a great day with the kiddos!

    Very cool Danny!

Great image, setup and shave Perry! Wow.....that's a bummer with the pro's not getting it done. Here in the metroplex we used to have a couple places for appliance parts like that (thermocouples). Replaced one back in the early 90s...not a tough job at all.

    Great shave Paul!

Awesome details and shave Jeff! Warm lather is so nice when it's cold out.

    Great image and setup Mark!

Fun shave Gary! Flare tip February, sounds like a plan!

Pretty fantastic shave today. I decided to give my February 30DC focus shave style a dry-run today: 3 YouTuber (long and smooth, but for me, less effective) passes along the cheeks and neck. Light touch, and no going back where it's been shaved (even if there is "residual slickness"). 3 short stroke passes along the goat-zone. Light touch, no buffing, & no residual slickness touch ups. Light touches permitted around the mouth, because I need to be able to think about other things throughout the day, and monomania makes that difficult.

BBS along the cheeks, DFS along the jaw and upper lip, CCS on the chin, and DFS along the neck. Overall I'd call it a DFS. Some slight irritation on upper lip, corners of mouth and parts of the jaw, which indicates that I should probably be using an even lighter touch on my passes.

I was inspired by Jason's use of B&M's Cool, and thought it would be a fantastic way to finish the work week. Love. That. Scent. Lathered flawlessly, and easily provided enough for 3 passes with some leftovers to reapply during gear clean-up. The Tsuka splash that follows complements Cool quite nicely. I was pleasantly surprised, considering just how different these two scents are from one another.

Speaking of Tsuka, it gave off a nice, warm burn this time that in NO way resembled the inferno I experienced yesterday (other than it fades fairly quickly). I still don't know if the mild irritation from my shave produces this effect, or if it's the AS itself. I actually applied a 2nd helping after the 1st dried down just to tempt fate. Again, warm burn that fades to nothing. Kind of enjoying the effect.

I'm avoiding menthol this upcoming month to better keep in touch with how my face is reacting to each shave. I want super-accurate scoring for my challenge. It is a sacrifice--I enjoy a little menthol. Because of this, I stole my son's Nivea Sensitive Cooling shave balm. I have never felt any more cool using it than when I use their regular formula, but it's still a wonderful balm.

Feeling like today is going to turn out to be a fantastic Friday. Hope all of yours turn out that way too :D
  9. Love the B&W photo. That is strange the soap changed so much with age.

  12. Thank you, Clint. I should have mentioned in my report that when I carved out a piece to put in the bowl, the soap had also hardened considerably. Not too far off a triple milled puck, to be honest. I think this is really the root of the issue and under-loading on the face as a result was the biggest culprit. I'll know now to load the heck out of it, and everything will be fine.

  13. I plan on making a round dining table (veeeery rustic) for the family, and have wanted a lazy Susan for years in order to help get the food around more easily. Problem is half of my children would climb up on the table to use it as a Sit-n-Spin. Still, we have some small ones in our kitchen cabinet for various items--handy little gadgets. Seems like a great addition to a den ;)
