    1812 - Fabulous...

    Good Morning everyone!

1812 is fabulous.. but really has nothing to do with American patriotism. Yes, it is about a war in 1812 but it was a Russian patriotic theme about their standoff with Napoleon.

Still, I would love to have heard the 1812 with the fireworks instead of some song about Cape Cod, A song about a Red Sox cap, several country songs, a selection from Grease... all of which had nothing to do with the 4th.

Oh well... I am sure it is a better fair of music than I will get tonight. Out fireworks were postponed to tonight. Our music is brought to us by our Mayor's band... the Ultra Conservadelics or something like that playing old standards with lyrics re-written to reflect his current political agenda. We usually sit far enough away from the band (on the other side of the field) and have a great view without the annoyance.

It'll be alright there JoAnna. If the old grey matter remembers correctly there are quite a few years where they stop wanting to know about everything to questioning authority. You really are heading into some great times with her!

I know Bill. :) It's been a wonderful time with her so far. I just try and make it fun. Thinking outside the box in my responses to her "Why"s? ;)

I admit it does get umm... trying at times, but I really do miss my kids being younger. The years pass by so quick with them.

Speaking of that! Only a $1.99 to relive some of my teen years!

    I hear ya!

My aunt came down from PA for the weekend, and she brought 3 Golden Books, that had belonged to me, my brother, and my sister. We had written our names in them. So, Jenna is flipping through mine, and tears something out. It was just a coupon in the back of the book.

So, I look at this coupon last night, after fireworks. It says, "Save 15 cents" "Note: This coupon not redeemable at McDonald's restaurants"

    Wait. What? :think002 :laugh042

My mom didn't even have an idea what they were talking about. The coupon has the year 1982 on it. No expiration date though. I should use the coupon. :D
    at McDonalds.

I wonder if they would take the coupon?

Thats the reason we have a large supply of vhs tapes still. The kids won't let us get rid of them as so many are the ones they grew up watching. I never was a huge fan of Richard Scarry.

    Good morning/afternoon all!

Ah, Indiana - the crossroads of America! Don't they tattoo conservative on your forearm when you become a resident? :D My wife grew up in Indianapolis and a little town called Fortville. I think she escaped the tatto for the most part.

So, do you get a make up day for fireworks? Hope so...

I can only read so much poetry about chicken and rice soup... my son loved it though, when he was a little tyke.

Today, the little tyke turns 21. He still asks why. I'm grateful.

Poor guy went with his mom (my ex) to see his grandma for the 4th. He should be back very soon. On Friday night, I got a call from him saying he was in the hospital. Yet another kidney stone. It's 8mm this time around - he had a 6mm stone 2 years ago. They gave him some good drugs and he was pretty happy when he left the hospital at 3 AM. Heck of a way to spend his 21st B-day.

I don't remember much about my 21st, other than it kind of sucked. Did anyone have a good 21st birthday, ever?
