Its not a bad theater. It is a one screen theater, I believe there is another one in the area where they have two screens so you can watch movie A and then switch to movie D between shows.

We used to go to the one in town more often. However, the prices have increased a bit ($8 per car to $8 per person). With as late as the movies start, we decided it was in our family's best interest to just catch things at the movie theater. Of course, I am dealing with a 9 year old with emotional issues and not emotional teenagers and they don't often string two movies together that I would take her to see. (second movie usually starts around 11, and no - she doesn't sleep during it)

When it used to be open only on the weekends, you had to get there early to get your car in line long before the gates open at 7. (tended to ball up traffic on the road) Now that they have have it open all week, it isn't as bad. However, it is still my luck that unless I park in the very front row, two big SUV's will park in front of me and then spend the movie with their rear hatches up.

The concessions area isn't bad and the bathrooms are fairly clean. They usually have a pair of pinball machines in the concessions area as well. However, I haven't been out there yet this year.

I am assuming that this is standard in most drive-in theaters; however, they do broadcast the sound on an FM channel. If you want to sit in front on chairs or a blanket, bring a radio. They still have the speakers that you can put on your door if you want to be more nostalgic.

I can barely remember my 21st, but I know it wasn't all that great. I was about to start university at the time, and while others went back in September, my course didn't start till the first week of October. Therefore, all my friends had already left for uni, leaving "Johnny No Mates" alone with a few greetings cards and a couple of text messages :(

I spent my 21st birthday moving from my dorm to a just opened apartment in family housing (small window of opportunity to get in and the university was being gracious enough to let me move in even though I wasn't a "family" yet)...

    morning folks.

An important distinction, to be sure. I wish I could be child-free more often. I love 'em, though, even when they drive me to insanity, break all my stuff, and attempt to kill each other and themselves all while being cute as can be.

Good afternoon everyone. The ER was a jumping place this weekend, though not with the drunks with explodey hands like I figured. On the plus side (maybe?), I pulled the trigger on a nice lookin netbook. Yay, I think.

    Morning All!

Thanks for the info Justin, that was just what I wanted to know. We have been down to the Harvest Moon Drive-In in Gibson City recently, but the one in Valpo was a little closer. Just trying to decide which one to go to for some family fun.

It never fails, when I'm around, there's at least an hour between posts...

Let me leave the forum for a day and there's 15 pages of posts averaging about 10 posts a second...

It's me, isn't it? Do I smell bad?

I really spoke too soon the other day, Bill. About an hour after I posted, the clouds pretty much cleared from the sky and we've had brilliant sunshine since. I actually got a little bit too much sun exposure yesterday. Spent the early afternoon downtown in Government Center Plaza where the annual Chowderfest takes place. $10 to enter, but you get to have as many sample sized bowls of chowder from about 8 different restaurants and tons of free stuff (I came home with a T shirt, two bottles of hot sauce, a large sample sized box of Honey Bunches of Oats, tons of Oyster Crackers, a couple pens, etc.). Good times. The lady took off and I went to the North End (Boston's Little Italy) to pick up a pastry. Tourist season is in full swing. The line to my favorite pastry shop was out the door. Too many people know about this place now.

I haven't dealt with HP warranty service before this netbook. My father has the same netbook I have and his has already been in three times for warranty repair for the same thing. Mine has been in once before and will probably be going out tomorrow again. I'm glad they're taking them in for repair, but it seems like they're only giving us temporary fixes.

And I agree with the laptop thing there, Bill. Less for me to worry about and deal with if she gets a new one.

I've avoided HP for most of my life prior to this netbook. It actually has a fabulous build quality. Beautiful screen, aluminum casing, etc. It's a shame the innards aren't as great.

I can sell people insurance and then hit them with a bat before tossing them to the lion in my bag.

Hope you and the son had an enjoyable birthday.

    No worries, Ray.

It's a cool article, albeit a little disturbing. Thinking of a mouse being digested in my coffee table is a bit much.

But Bong's pen is more fun than shaking off a brush!

    Sorry to hear that Justin.

To be honest with you, I have no idea what music was played during our fireworks. I know that the 1812 Overture was played (which I never understand because it's a piece written to celebrate the defense of Moscow against Napoleon's army) and that Neil Diamond was there. I'll try to get them to play good stuff next year.

I live at the bottom of what's probably the largest hill in Boston. The girlfriend and a couple friends climbed the hill with picnic fixings to sit at the park at the top. The park faces north, so you see Cambridge and the Charles River, not downtown Boston, which is east. Not a bad view of the fireworks, though.

Are those the books with the puppy and Richard Scary?

Sorry about that kidney stone, Tom. Hope that passes soon.

My 21st wasn't bad. Got a free drink in a communist themed bar. Other than the fact that a roommate brought one of my exes without telling me, it was great.

Glad to hear it, Corey. Have you worked the ER on 4th of July weekend before?

    What netbook didja get? :D

neither. it's that we don't like to talk about our pens or dry our brushes in public.

You are the Master of the Multiquote. Impressive indeed. I worked the ER last year and it was drunks and superficial burns from fireworks. I don't think we got a single one of those this year, just a bunch of stuff from the nursing homes and elderly folk slipping and falling.

As for the Netbook, I ended up getting a Samsung NC10-14GB. It gets some very impressive write ups and it looks like quality stuff. I got it about $100 cheaper than Amazon's price, but it's still slightly more than I was looking to pay. I just figured the extra money would be worth it compared to getting something cheaper with more iffy reviews.
