Re: Bill Neumann&Co. It appears to me that their 4 oz. offerings are just soapcakes(they recommend using a mug, that's what gave it away-to me anyway), whereas their 1/2 lb. offerings are what you'd see from Stoylin, Chiseled Face, Central Texas Soaps, companies like that(them). Do any Bill Neumann users agree?

    Razor: '41 Gillette Ranger Tech
    Blade: Permasharp (3)
    Brush: Oumo Manchurian Gel City
    Pre-shave: PAA The Cube
    Soap: PAA Sandalwood Science
    PAA Galactic witch hazel
    PAA Sandalwood Science Star Jelly
    AS: PAA Sandalwood Science

    Good morning

Excellent shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS. Warmer than usual alum along the jawline.

Sandalwood Science is a great scent. Enough Sandalwood that you know what it's meant to be but not so much to be overpowering. A keeper for sure.

    From PAA:

Scent Profile: A blend of Indian, Australian & Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood. Robust, aromatic, extremely rich, semi-sweet, full bodied, creamy, warm & woody. I find both Longevity and sillage are by far supreme in regards to any other "sandalwoods" on the market...and you will too!

    Have a great day! [IMG]

    First shave of the month.

I am going to renew my love affair with straight razors this month.
Except for this Thurs & Fri, I will use EDSRIO, multiple times. ;)
Nice to see @Screwtape back on TSD, welcome back, John.
Congratulations to the newest CT recipients, Jason and Tim.
    Wear your CTs proudly.
If you haven't yet signed up for my Stirling PIF and are interested, I am giving away a Bonaparte
Soap and Aftershave. Clock is ticking. PIF ends this evening.
I am amazed that my mega den clearance fire sale is still available.
I am not going to break it up, so I guess it's headed to Ebay shortly.
It's a beautiful, sunny day here in the midwest.
(Cue music) Blue skies, smiling on me...
nothing but blue skies, do I see...
So, how was the shave, you might be asking?
    Great
shave today. Wonderful edge on the Swedish razor.
The Mondial created some terrific, albeit airy, lather. It was stable, however,
and slickness abounded, along with an unctuous lavender scent.
I mowed down 48 hours growth in three passes. No bad set-downs; no cuts nor nicks.

Two post-shave products (not pictured) Thayer's Medicated and Nivea Unscented
    completed the shave. Decided
    against the Yardley. Superfluous.

Continuing day two of Hell Week (Personna Blue blade 1st shaves) in my Dead Is Dead showdown, and I have my first casualty. The Razorock Classic TTO...

    Week 1 Gear
    • Brush: Kong
    • Soap: Soap Commander "Drive"
    • Blade: Personna Blue (1st shave--"The Blood-letter")

I shouldn't be forthright (because I always get punished when I'm being honest), but going into this shave I was secretly hoping I'd get a fail out of this razor. No hate on it at all, it just doesn't have the emotional attachment that I have with some of my others. That was until today's shave...

1st pass, WTG, and I'm finding the razor's sweet spot incredibly easy, and I'm highly at ease. 2nd pass, XTG, and I'm really enjoying this shave--looking forward to pass three. And then the cold water rinse reveals a sting. I look closely, and sure enough... a weeper on my chin. Crud! Shave over. I rinse down completely, reapply the copious amounts of no-longer-needed lather left over, and go through the cleanup routine. By the time I finish, I find two other weepers along my lower chin. Those disappeared quickly, but the 1st needed the styptic. Dead Is Dead--Comfort and Closeness scores automatic 0.

And now I'm disappointed. With just a two pass shave, this razor gave me results that were about as good as yesterdays 3 pass with the DE89. Along the cheeks I'm almost BBS. That never happens on a XTG pass. I would have given the Classic TTO a Comfort score of 4 (slightest bit of irritation), and as for closeness, this razor was destined to give me at the very least a DFS (score: 3), but in all probability a BBS/DFS (score:4). I'm just very impressed that I can feel as good as I do with a 2 pass, no ATG shave.

Takeaway for the Razorock Classic TTO: fairly aggressive, large blade gap, highly effective razor. But surprisingly comfortable. In future shaves, I'll treat this more like the MMOC, because I'm really wishing I could have gotten that 3rd pass.

Citizen now has that too with their offerings. New analog options are fun to look at, but not on the want list. I have a few nice analog mid range $ (for my world) working examples of fine watch craftsmanship if I want to reminisce.

The past 6 years I've worked through watch technology tied to either Android or iOS cell phones. Currently using an Apple Watch 4 cellular.....and the capabilities are tough to beat, even though it may not be the looker or style of times past. Being able to answer (and complete) a phone call, get an alert when weather gets rough in an hour (or rougher in 5 minutes), change/stop/start/even store my music, adjust volume on my headphones/tv/car stereo, all from my wrist, is quite convenient. And the capability list goes on and on. The next step would be solar charging built in....that would be pretty incredible.

Sorry, folks. Hit "post" instead of "Upload a File". Sunday's shave is now complete, and I'm a ghost till Monday. I look forward to seeing how the shaves went today--till then Enjoy this beautiful Sunday morning, afternoon, and evening :D

A slow start to a Sunday, but a good one none the less.
Used my newly delivered 1900 or so GEM NEW, some Arko, had time to do some bowl lathering again.
Some small tweaks on the razor so it would accept a Pesonna GEM blade, unmodified.
    20200202_102324(0).jpg
Part of the handle is missing, but it's not really needed. Latherd up once then rinced off, this seems to be a good pre-shave.
This razor runs smooth and close, like most SE razors of this era preform.
2 passes head, 2 passes face, no touch up. A small weeper on the neck that didn't show up till way after I had completed the job.
I like a wood handel for these, and from what I read, some were sold new with one.
All in all a good razor to add ti the rotation.
    All
    Enjoy

It's handy when you can combine word studies with your favorite cartoons.

I hope all is well today, gents. I enjoyed a fantastic shave this morning with my focus gear. The soft Florida water (the stuff that runs of out the tap...not the AS) made a mountain of suds from the Mike's soap this morning. Two passes, and the glow has been restored! Off to church with my Bride and then out to have some fun in the sun. Have a fantastic Sunday, gents.
